Poll: Would you be interested in a large package of hulls/ship pieces for $8.95?

I voted yes, although such things are just eyecandy but as Frogboy (IIRC) said, artwork is expensive. Give me some new animations for the planetary invasion (no change to the game mechanics, just artwork again), a new face for the ugly terran leader and improve the battleviewer (fleet battles) and I'll pay you 20$ or more. However just a few hulls/ship pieces for 8.95$ would also be fine.

One question here, as I'm from Europe and credit cards aren't that usual here, is there a possibility to pay via PayPal or something, because I think those "little" expansions won't make it into the stores, right?

Nope won't buy it wouldn't be boxed.

Good news on the fleet battle improvements.

I want Tactical combat
Multiplayer
4 new races
4 new political partys
4 new star governments

A Civ3 PTW type expansion for GalCiv2.

I will never spend money for such things.

Would that mean individual ship sets for each race?

No. I'll pay for the game, and I'll pay for expansion packs, but I wont be nickel and dimed to have different ship parts that should be made by the community and distributed for free. The ship parts should just be part of an x-pack.

The ship parts should just be part of an x-pack.

A typical expandion pack is $20 to $30. There's only so much that can be put into an expansion pack.

Squeeee! $8.95 for increased content to work with, ship design wise? Abso-freaking-lutely!! I'll buy any that come out! <3 The ship design is my favorite part [and, ehhh, the part I'm best at], and having more material between expansion packs would be glorious! <3 <3 <3

I voted yes as well..... but I want more custom pictures for minors/choices for custom races......

the question is... large = ???? 5/10/50/100 etc.....

will other races have access to these new hulls, i.e. each race has it's own hull to work with?

I'd pay, but only if there is a guarantee that the damn hardpoints will be symetrical, and that it fixes the old pieces.

Only if there will be a safety these componets won't be uploaded in the library like it was done with the collectors edition ones.

I agree with the above poster: I'm not paying for this.

A little touchy in the price for a few hulls..

If it added a hull and component style for all 10 races, I'd gladly pay whatever Stardock is charging for it.

I think the modding community will come up with new ships anyway, personally I'd like to see a full fledged x pack featuring some extra's gameplay wise!

I voted no, I think that kind of material should be added into the expansion or release for free! I hate the idea of Stardock selling off little bits and pieces of the game!

And I really don't care if they add anymore ship builder components into an expansion either, There's enough components in it already for whatever I need to make. I would rather they focus on other things in the artwork realm like battle animations, right now the ship just tend to float around and fire from whatever part of the ship is facing an enemy (looks alittle dumb). Also planetary invasions really need a face lift, It looks very amateurish compared to ship battles which of course also needs improvement.

I would also love to see Mulitplayer added but that's like kicking a dead horse at this point! If its going to be a single player game then let Stardock make it the best single player experience it can be and not add MP a year from now. Why bother at that point most dedicated MP's would have forgotten all about GC2 by then, and the majority of people who have already bought the game are single players and won't buy a MP expansion anyway.

I would be glad to pay $30 for a large expansion that adds substantial improvements too the existing game, and adds new features that really add to the game play, such as tactical battles, moon mining, teraforming of Class 0 planets, Asteroids fields!

Stardock I don't want an appetizer I want my meal (please), well I might be interested in some desert but I will have to wait until I finish with my main course first, then I will know if I'm still hungry for more!!

For free? Someone has to design, model, and texture all that artwork. I am curious as to why you would feel entitled to receive that for free.

At this point, any new artwork has to be paid for by someone.

The expansion pack will come but that's some months off.

I second this guy ^

and to mension to sell off componets for 8.95 is kind of expensive for little things that we don't need if you have them already but I can't say if they were free for people who already own the game it won't be a problem..

Alright Frogboy here's my idea you can stick these in the x-pack or maybe a future pack.

not saying that we should not pay you for your work but it is crazy to think that we sould pay for this if we pay for the x-pack and at a more cost efficent range.. $20- $ 30 is great for a bunch of stuff which can be added not to mension hulls and gameplay mechanics..

Woudl this artwork be outsorced then? Should we expect same level of quality? I would love more artwork, more hull designs and stuff. Hell yeah
Reply #21 Top

The artwork is being done by our art team and it is higher in quality than what's currently in the game since they've learned a lot of techniques.

If there isn't strong demand for such content, I can put the art team onto Society.

The expansion pack will have some new hulls and ship parts but nothing like what a stand alone shipyard expansion would have.

Millions of people pay $15 per month to play World of Warcraft. Do they add new content every month? Not only do people pay the $15 per month but they then $40 for add-ons like the Burning Crusade (on top of the $50 for WoW and the $15 per month).

So I guess I am having a hard time understanding how people would act like $9 is a huge amount for a significant amount of content.

$8.95 isn't bad for a whole lot of new graphics. But that depends on the amount that we recieve. More hulls, awesome. More parts, awsome. More overall race design types, awesome. Changing the game, not awesome. I'd be willing to buy a graphics addon, but not a modification. It's not really an expansion pack, but an addon.

And, might I remind the people here, Civ III PTW multiplayer didn't work, they had to repair it in Civ III Conquests. Please stop using the worst expansion pack in the world as an example.

having done a few MMO games, I understand that too. and personally a 10$ one time payment for the hulls is no big deal, after all, compared to the collectors edition stuff which is just a few things, this would be alot more, plus you guys are the ones working on it and deserve to be paid for the work you did

How much are we talking about Brad because when you compare it to one of the best selling games of all time it is optimism WoW is an incredible game and the things they update it with are to make it better yes but it is the overall popularity of the game which set is up there were people want the pack...
