Upgrading Ships

Parts can't be removed

Hi,

I stumbled upon a little problem.

I wanted to upgrade the Defender. I have the option checked to keep all parts when I upgrade a ship.
The strange thing is that the Defender has a weapon that looks like a railgun under its cockpit although it seems to use another Beam Weapon as I can see it on the top of the screen. When I tried to remove this "Railgun" the Remove-Button and the Move Button didn't respond.
The Beam Weapon I can see on the top can be removed but I don't even see it on the ship.

So maybe I'm just dumb here, I hope you can help me with this.

Further I really would love an option where all Extras are staying when you upgrade a ship but the components like weapons and engines are taken away. So I could stay with a design and change only the parts that are important for the game. If I really like a design I made I just could weep when I try to recreate it and fail again and again.

But maybe I'm dumb here again and haven't found that option yet.

By the way, I really LOVE the game, one of the best I ever played. Keep up the good work.

all core ships have invisible modules and jewlery that looks like modules... what that means is that if you upgrade it and remove the components it will look the same as it did before... then you put your new components on top of the old ones.

Its my understanding that you can't upgrade any of the core ships.

Beside I have a lot of fun designing ships so I pretty much obsolete all the core designs from the getgo. I wish there was an option button to turn them off in the first place.

Do Core ships get automatic upgrades? Or do the Shibs just fall into being obsolete?

They fall into obsolescence, and you can in fact upgrade core ships. I do it on regular basis to make up for certain deficiencies.

Thanks for the info. I would do this but I can't remove the "fake gun" under the Defender for example. The button flashsjust but the component isn't removed.

Well, then I just can't upgrade from a default design. Should be no big deal as long as I can remove the old stuff from my selfmade ships and this did always work.
