GalCivII not working with mousesoftware

Just found it out as I installed my mousesoftware.

When there is a mousesoftware running that defines middle and other buttons, it is inpossible to rotate anything in GalCivII. Even when I set the middle mouse button to the "middle mouse button" function (thats actualy no function at all), it does not work (logitech mouseware). Tried it out with a microsoft mouse and microsoft software, same result. Got to deinstall the software in order to play GalCivII... big deal to have a 5 button mouse where I can still use just 2 and installing deinstalling all the time is no option.

Suggestion: definable key bindings in GalCivII would resolve this

Strange, my Logitech Mouse has 4 Buttons and Windows treats the one under the wheel as the middle button. I never use this button, I hate it and so I installed the Logitech Mouseware and defined button 4 as the middle button.

Works just fine, now I can rotate in GalCiv using my prefered button and don't have to click on my wheel anymore.

Nevertheless, defineable keybindings are always a good idea ...

In version 1.1 and 1.11 you can use the following keys to rotate and move the camera:

CTRL + Arrow Keys --> Rotate the camera
SHIFT + Arrow Keys --> Move the camera

Ive tried strg + mouve but with no luck, I would never ever thought about using the arrow keys. I already got used to the mouse, using the keys... hm I will try out, thanks. - Still its a bug and should be fixed

Hmmmm, maybe because you installed the mouse software AFTER installing the game it didn't like that. Maybe a GCII reinstall is called for???

Never had a problem with Logitech MouseWare and GC2, 6-button mouse.Not when I installed GC2, not when I installed a new version of LMW after GC2 1.0x, not when I installed updates of GC2 after that. Default settings or custom, no problems at all.

Can you give some more specific details, such as what model of mouse are you using, in what port, and so on?

Logitech MX 1000 laser cordless mouse, USB Port, WinXP Pro, latest version of mouseware (no idea about the number, but downloaded it yesterday from the logitech site),
