How do I get him out of there?

Ok, here's the scenario. I own a 21PQ planet, everything is great, have 8 ships in the starport. Along comes one of the other races smaller ships (we're not at war) and somehow he ends up in orbit of my planet. Now when I click on the planet, I see the picture of his lone ship and a second picture with my planet with a number 0 in the box.

I can still get "into" the planet and make changes to structures, upgrade, etc, but I cannot get access to my 8 ships that are there, somewhere. I have tried sending ships to the planet (twice) to see if I could rout him, but I could not. Both times the ships I sent "disappeared" into the planet somewhere and now it states that my starport is full (which makes sense because now there would be 10 ships there).

I do not want to go to war with this civ, as they are the only ones that I am not at war with and I am "protecting" them from outside influence, as they are blocked in a corner by my empire. I also have all twelve trading routes established with this civ so they are extremely important to my economy.

Might this be a "bug" or is there something I might be missing. I cannot figure out how one of another civ's ships could be in orbit of my planet in the first place.

Thanks!

I have the same problem, except I have it with one of my own freighters... It happened before, and that time I just scrapped that freighter.

You can still get to your ships by going to the planet, to the build screen. That one has a list of ships in orbit, and a launch button.

Yeah, this happened to one of my starbases once. I bought the ship off him and it was fine.

Of course, it would just have to be one of the 'Vengance' ships, so I had to buy every single one of the things to make sure I got the right one...

I had this happen on my last game with a pirate ship on the terran world i was invading. I could shoot it forever, but it took no damage. (And boy it should have, I way outgunned it.) So I just ended up ignoring it and taking the planet in a ground assault. The pirates just chilled in orbit, totally invincible for another 10 or so turns. Then they spontaneously decided to move and attack my starbases. Since they got out from under the planet, I wiped them out with the fleet that had been there taking the planet previously.

Also of note: The graphic of the planet looked like it was piled on top of the graphic of the pirate frigate, and it wasn't in the starport. It was listed in the same tile like when two ships move together before you make them into a fleet. But with 1 ship and 1 planet. Maybe this is a bug?

I've seen it a few times myself. Usually it's when one civ is attacking another and they set that planet as the destination for their fleet. I try clicking on the planet and all you get is a stack.
