Re-using Transports (v1.1)

I was playing around today and found a way to re-use my transports mulitple times.

I fleeted 3 transports and assulated a fairly low morale planet with INFO warfare to get a few more troops.

The assualt went so well, I had a few extra troops left over then my initial invasion force. These troops went back to the transport leaving only the left overs from the info warfare. (100-200 left on the planet.) The transport fleet was still there with movement left over to go to the next planet.

I tried this a couple of more times and found out that any full transport from the transport fleet would survive. My transports were 1500 troop capacity. If I assualted with 4500 troops off 3 transports and 3232 troops survived then 2 transports would survive and 232 would remain on the planet.

The questions is: Is this an intended use for transports , that only the number of transports needed for the invasion to be successful are expended and the rest survive?

Using Info warfare seems to currently allow all to survive if enough people are converted to the attackers side. Perhaps 1 transport should always be expended out of the fleet.

I have not be able to duplicate this with a single transport only with a fleet of transports.

Full transports will not *always* be returned. I know that I have attacked with multiple transports, used information warefare, and ended up with more troops then I started with. However, those extras, and one loaded transport would end up on the planet.

On other occasions, all of my transports will still be available, and only the extras will be on-planet.

Without info warfare, one transport will always be dumped on the planet, regardless of how many in the fleet.

It can work out all wrong sometimes. Even with 1.1 I once assaulted a planet with a fleet of transports and they ALL landed, leaving me with no transports and a population on the planet larger than food would support.

When I first started playing the game, I made combination transport/attackers. Imagine my surprise when my new hybrid fighter/transport disappeared after invading a planet!

When victorious some transports survive with remaining troops; Doesn't sound like a bug. I'm actually quite hapy that this is the case. Transport construction takes considerable time on huge maps... would be bad if they all disappeared after a single attack.

When attacking with a fleet of transports, you will only loose as many transports as the number of troops you loose.

i.e. You have 3 transports with 2000 (million!) troops each, and loose 1000 troops in the invasion, so you are left with two full transports and a billion on the planet.

If you use info warfare, and loose less troops than you gained from info warfare, you can end up with all of the transports left. Of course, this only works if you have a massive soldiering tech lead, low morale on the planet, and a relatively low planet population as well.

Incidentally, if you send a single transport, you will always loose it, even if you use info warfare as above.
