Back to old RPG

I love galactic civilization 2. But I played intensively for 2 week and I'm now a bit tired, so I'm re-installing neverwinter night platinum version...
Last year I played this for four months intensively before I got tired. (Had the time to complete the whole game and even 3 more module)

Anyone who love rpg would love that great game.
I may be a bit off-topic...but...

I want to share this

Even if I love galactic civilization 2, I'm not able to play it 2 hours or more before a break, dont know why, but this is not the case with neverwinter night...

I'll be back for 1.2.

Er, I like them both. I get tired of NWN quicker though, because it is the same game when I play it again. I have gone ot play different mods, but most of them aren't very well done. Some of them are well done though (Like the dreamcatcher, and shadowlords campaigns), so I have spent some time searching for those well made campaigns on NWN Vault.

On a side note, Atari is coming out with a NWN 2, although I think that someone other than Bioware is making it. Also, "The Witcher" is being made with a modified NWN engine, and that looks like it will be a pretty good game.

RPG is probably my favorite genre and I grew up playing PnP D&D...yet the NWN stuff usually puts me to sleep. I'm not sure what it is. Part of it is that I prefer to control a full party for a D&D CRPG - like in Baldur's Gate or IWD.

You might want to check out the Titan Quest demo (releases end of june) if you want a little RPG fix. It's probably a bit more like Diablo II but it has more quests making it somewhat like NWN (which is really an action/rpg itself). Anyways - it's pretty nice.

I tried a demo for Shadowgrounds yesterday too - it's a space-based action/rpg kind of game (more action than rpg, I suppose). It's an indy game (like GalCiv2) of good quality and the demo is reasonably entertaining. Shadowgrounds appears to be getting zero mention on the big gaming sites (probably since it's an unproven indie and doesn't pay to advertise on those sites...

I was an hardcore fan of PnP AD&D second edition (second edition got two version too!)

I was a DM (all my players elected me the best DM they ever played with )and had for 500$ of books hehe. But I stopped to play since it turned to third edition, and for many other reasons.

One of the main reasons is that AD&D games just came on cpu at the same time almost.... yes before baldur gates we had lot of them like eyes of the beholder of spelljammer, but nothing like a true AD&D experiences.

Now I only play rpg on cpu.

Maybe someday if I'm rich, I'll buy all the books or the third of fourth (if it exist at this moment) version and I'll play rpg on Pnp again !!!!!!
hehehehe

Well, I still love galactic civilization 2 and I'll keep playing it at the same time I'm starting a new quest of Never winter night.

I think I'll try the dreamcatcher module.

If you guys want to try the best module I played on NWN, try Blackguard 2&3. (the first one is not really fun, even if the story is nice)

The true strength of NWN is (or was since there are not so many players out there anymore) the multiplayer(played for about 2 year only nwn multiplayer). You will need all expansions, though (diamond, not only platinum).
The official campaign sucked. luckily there are a lot of player made mods on nwn vaulth they wont entertain you as long as gal civ does.

I played Baldurs Gate for a long time and NWN as well as SoU and HoU extensions several times through and through, but I couldn't find any good RPG since then out there. Most stuff turned out to be kind of DiabloII "Click 'n Slay" or had annoying character leveling like Morrorwind.
I hope all the best NWN2 will give me sleepless roleplaying nights again, but I'm worrying if Bioware concentrates about eyecandy and "simplicity" to get it mainstream instead of keeping its depth and variability.

Howerver, if Stardock improves this game further I will propably miss the NWN2 release because of playing GalCiv, especially since I expect the first add-on 'til the end of this year.

actually i had the same problem, i love this game, but i just get burnt out after awhile, so ive been switching between it and battlefield 2 and Star trek's birth of the federation (even though its very similar)

What does that have to do with GalCiv2 Modding? Couldn't you just put this into the everything forum?

The dreamcatcher mod for NWN is brilliant - definitely try it if you're going back to NWN. You might want to play through Shadowlords first - it's the prequel, and is also pretty good.

Now I'm feeling old I gave up playing AD&D before 2nd Ed was released. Still got a full set of the 1st Ed books in the loft - along with loads of TSR modules, Judges Guild stuff, & the first 200 issues of Dragon.

The wife is always asking me why I keep them - and I just show her a few similar items on eBay and say "it's my pension plan".

Thanks for the tips on the NWN modules - might have to take a break from GC2 / Oblivion myself.
