asymmetrical hardpoints

I've been playing the game for a while now and i love it, but i've noticed this a while back and it's starting to frustrate me... some of the hardpoints are asymmetrical. Some more than others, but i think all of them are to some degree... normally it wouldn't bother me too much and i'd just get over it, but sometimes it's really pronounced. like here:

and here, a different angle:

I assure you each peice of jewelry is the exact same size and angle, they're all completely symmetrical. The only thing that isn't is the hard point. It's also on other ship designs of mine but i don't have them available in the campaign i'm playng yet....This is keeping me from building big impressive complicated ship designes as the asymmetry amplifies with each piece of jewelry i stick on it. There wouldn't be a patch or mod out there that fixes this, would there?

I find it's usually the mountpoint on the jewelry that isn't in the centre. You can attach one, then rotate it - you'll see that it's off centre, and it's usually not related to where you attach it. It's worth fixing, I think.

The wings are crooked in the new shipbuilder. I have complained about this many times since it came out and it has never been fixed. please acknowlege this bug Stardock.

Try using a stub hull and mounting all of the components shrunk down as small as possible, then covering it all with a "skin" such as the nice Starfleet models that have been made available by the modding community, or one of your own creation. I even find some of the unadorned built-in ships look pretty nice without all the functional components hanging off of them. If you place your weapons right, they can even appear to fire out of the appropriate place on the "skin".

I have that problem alot too. Alot of times I scrap ship designs because it looks too horrible.

One of the "wing" ones that i use often is increadibly off. I can't use it on large designs at all due to the fact that its so noticible.

Yeah, the 'X-Wing wing' component is way off - ships that try to look like planes etc look STUPID.

People who suggest simply ignoring widespread simple problems - like the poor hardpoint alignment - need to raise their expected standards. Why not just fix it? Frankly, the mod forum is full of people who could probably fix it in a day.

Wings on a starship look odd anyway. =P It's a bit like the movies that always show starships with roaring engines, etc.

On a more serious note, I have run into a few hulls that have some very strange hardpoint issues. One of the Yor large hulls has some hardpoints that warp components elsewhere on the ship when you try and place something on them. One of the Terran tiny hulls has hardpoints that are completely asymetrical. This wouldn't be much of an issue, if the hulls themselves didn't look to be symetrical designs to the extent that they do. It just looks bizarre.
