Surrendering: What is the rationale???

Surrendering: What is the rationale???

Can this be an option to turn off? Why is the AI surrendering to somone half across the galaxy?!? It makes no sense! This is useless to the race that gets it because its too far away to defend! Is there any reasoning to this surrendering craziness? I would rather all races defend to the last man!

It seems like those events are random.

According to the way I understand Frogboy's Journal posts, yes this is true, there is some element of randomness in the AI decision making process, even to the extent that on 'dumbest' levels this randomness can cause the AI to make *BAD* decisions.

It may be that some of the AI complaints we see throughout this board are related to this "noise" factor, and even at the higher levels the AI can make a mistake (likely not as often or as heinously bad as on the Cakewalk difficulty level) in its assessment.

I wouldn't mind a "no surrenders at all" option.

I think that GalCiv 2 would benefit from some more setup options, just like Civ 4 which has a lot of them. Many of them wouldn't be difficult to implement either, I think.

I wasnt at war with the Thalans. They were at war with someone else I guess and then surrendered to the Yor who were on the other side of the map. Needless to say the Yor wont keep the new terrritory for long because they cant even reach it.

I dont care about anyone or want anyone surrendering to me. I just dont want anyone surrendering to anybody! Let the races that win the war and take the territory work for it and be able to keep it!
