Gauging interest for quality GC2 fanfiction

Ever read the game examples in the datalinks? Just doing something like that would be pretty cool.

The Altarians, the Drath, and the Terrans. Think of modern day parallels.

Sounds good, GC 2 could do with a better history, background. Something to make u identify with the individual races more.

I know that I would really like to see some additional history written. I felt that one of the few good parts of MOO3 was the backstory that was sprinkled throughout the manual.

ZERO interest from over here, but go for it if the urge drives you.

Are you playing the game? If yes just go with your story! Good idea, in fact many games use this( MOO3, tatertot18 mentioned,X3,etc),would be greate to have GC2 too

Alright, this is good, sounds like there is a fair amount of interest in stories. My first story will involve the Altarians, the Drath, and the Terrans. I've put in a request for 4 weeks of vacation time to pour my efforts into this project. I don't want to give any spoilers but lets just say that the races will begin trading more than technologies.

btw, is there any race bios or anything posted anywhere? Specifically I'm looking for physical descriptions of the races, ie average height ,weight, number of orifices, etc.

It's not just about the number of orifices but quality of orifices, as anyone who's been around the galaxy a couple of times can tell you. I look forward to your developments in this area--it's largely uncharted territory. If I can remember, the "original manuscripts" on which the plot was based were curiously silent on the subject of orifices. Well, the publicly released manuscripts, at least.

There are links to brief histories of the races on the site somewhere. DataBanks maybe?
The only dimensions I remember it mentioning was the Arceans are 12 feet tall.
Nothing on orifices iirc.

Btw I would be interested in reading GC2 based fan-fic.

I've been playing Tetris a lot these days and was somewhat let down by the lack of a backstory to really explore the nature of the falling blocks and was hoping that somebody would craft some solid fanfiction fleshing out the living world of Tetris.

So, hopefully somebody who has time after writing stories about the GalCiv2 universe could take a crack at that as well.

Or maybe I'll just wait until the movie adaptation.

Many years ago, a race known as the Arnor ruled the galaxy in peace. To amuse themselves, they created a new species- living bricks of many colours, who lived their lives falling from the sky before landing, to build an enormous wall, and then eventually die as they became overcrowded on all sides by other blocks.

However, the Arnor were so diverted by this passtime that they failed to notice a growing number amoung them were becoming dissatisfied... These dissatisfied Arnor decided to all become evil and called themselves 'Dread Lords'. They killed almost all the other Arnor, before finally being trapped, along with the few surviving Arnor, under a massive pile of tetris blocks.
