Add coloring feature to ship design

It's great being able to design you own ship, make it look as funky as you want.

But it would be nice to have the ability to color different aspects of the ship.

Having all ships have the same color scheme gets old.

To be able to custom tailor each ship class, is nice, hence the ship design, but we need color.

Also something that would be nice, instead of just making things symetrically larger or smaller, give the tools to also make an item shorter/longer and thinner/wider.

Colour eh? Well, it sounds a good idea, but I can't help thinking there might be flaws somewhere. I dunno, they got resizing in a day which was amazing, so I wonder if this could be easily done.

Bumpage for Stardock to think about.

Would love to be able to stamp the name/class of the ship on the hull somewhere, and maybe the race's insignia.
Attach these to the hardpoints in the editor maybe? Resizing them possibly too?

Could make a 'Death to Drengin's' bumper sticker and slap it on the back

I don't see the point in colouring ships... that's what you set your race's ship colour for at the start, to make them identifiable as yours

But decals could be interesting.

The lights don't work for me either. I wish I could get a screenshot, but my ships are basically two-tone designs, with none of the detailed windows and panels that all the main posters show. When I download their ships their screenshots are much prettier than mine, even in the preview window.

Artwork and names on an individual or class basis like the old WW2 fighters would be interesting.

I dunno about decals, they would be hard to see unless you are in shipbuilder mode and on the gamescreen, they'd be difficult to impossible to see on smaller hulls, on large and huge ships, it might be easier.

but yea, having custom color stuff sounds cool although I'm ok with the current color schemes.

just get's old looking at the same color scheme on and on and on and on, while designing ships. To be able to customize your ship with color as well would be cool.

If there is no point in being able to customize the color for each class we can think off, then why give the ability to create our own types of ships at all?
