I'm stupid? How do I prioritize my planet build types?

Under all circumstances (with rare manual tweak exceptions), I want my colonies to develop empty squares into industry tiles, and to upgrade existing industry tiles.

How do I tell the game to do this? (Both in normal upgrading/building, and also on freshly conquered planets?) Or is this best left as a feature request?

Now that the Neutrality Learning Centers are fixed, this is the next item that most consumes my time with manual tweaking to reorder the build queues.

No way to do that but manually at the momet.

I think you should be able to queue things up by clicking on a tile and requesting something built there and it will build these in sequence. when ones done another starts.
you should be able to upgrade by clicking on the questioned structure and replacing it with another unless it is a wonder or something.

Correct me if i'm wrong about this because sometimes I don't understand the initial post.

I'm not sure what you want. You must know that the order you place buildings is the order that they're built. Then, in the build que, you can move them up or down in the building order.

So are you asking to have a prioritized "building plan que list" that the govenors can take care of after you colonize or invade so that you do not have to?
That would be a good thing I guess.

They had that in one of the Civ games, where new cities built a certain number of things (granary, mill, etc.) that all cities need, then prompted you for instructions like normal. It would be harder for GalCiv because of how the planets work though. I think that given how poorly the AI currently uses its tiles, I'd much rather manually control it.

This is all already in the game. Are you not being specific enough?...because you stated the very basics of the planet screen as if they do not exist in the game already.

Okay. Here's a more concrete example.

I've got a planet that I've colonized. I've set the tiles in the following order:
4 Factories
1 Starport
1 Entertainment Network
8 Basic Labs

Now, fast forward a bit. I've built the 4 factories and the 1 starport. I'm starting work on the Entertainment Network. But now, I've discovered Enhanced Factories. So now my build queue looks like this...

1 Entertainment Network
8 Basic Labs
4 Factories -> Enhanced Factories [upgrade]

I always want my factories to be upgraded first. So for this planet, and all other planets, I have to go in and manually change the build order to put the factories first. Its okay if you have to do it for one planet. But to do it for your entire empire for the rest of the game as you research new factory tech is just a pain in the ass.

And I'm doing this to get everything built faster. Building 4 factory upgrades before 8 basic labs will make the build process go much quicker (although... note... the estimated time on the build queue doesn't correctly reflect that... it thinks building 4 factories then 8 basic labs takes the same amount of time as building 8 basic labs then 4 factories).

I just want to prioritize factories as the #1 building project for my planets. Its kind of crazy for them to circle back to upgrading the factories after churning out planetary improvements for 100 turns. [And now that the improvements are built, the value of upgraded factories are diminished.]

EDIT: Even if my planet is a research planet, I still want the factory improvements first. So that way I can churn out my research squares and research square upgrades that much faster.

Try elimanating the labs and the network from the queue by clicking the X above the queue interface should be a small slidebar above this.

I see what you're saying. But it seems to me that it may be hard to implement.

First of all, say you want a priority list of upgrades somewhere. The things at the top of the list would always be upgraded first. That would require an enirely new menu, plus the code to actually implement it.

An alternative would be to restrict this to the planetary manager always prioritising factories. But this could also cause problems. Shortly after the patch was released, you'd be seeing loads of posts along the lines of 'Why is the game shifting around my build order?'.

So it would be nice, as an option perhaps. I know I'd use it.

EDIT: He knows how to change it El Conquest, but it takes too long with a lot of planets

go into the summary tab and click on the governer tab, then click off of automatically upgrade buildings that way you can request building factories and you don't have to eliminate things from the manger.
