Corrupt file when installing

When I try to install Gal Civ II: Dread Lords, I keep getting an I/O corrupt file error. The error message is as follows : An I/O error ocurred while installing a file. This is normally caused by bad installation meia or a corrupt installation file. I just bought the CD from a retail store, and tried installing on 2 different computers, and keep getting the same thing. Both computers use Windows XP service pack 2. My laptop i an AMD Athlon 2400+ processor, running about 800 mghz. It has an Nvidia Geforce video card with 32 mb ram.

I don't know if there's a way to get a new CD directly from Stardock, here in Germany you could bring the game back to the place you bought it and get a new one.

If it's not a localized version, you propably won't need the CD to install the game. Just download Stardock Central from the Download Section on this page and create a Stardock Account with some valid E-Mail address. Then register GalCiv2 with the serial number on your CD within Stardock Central and you can download and install the whole game via Internet.

You might want to run a virus checker, as well as check for ad and spy ware.
Another possibility is a bad cdrom drive.

But if two different cd's gave the same error, it is very unlikely that it is the cd itself. More likely something messed up in your computer.

Could it be a bug in xp? i've got so many bugs from running game software i have to clean the system weekly, i don't think it is, because my bro has an ok pc and its running Windows 98, same exact error, i borrowed my mothers Dell D8200 and i still git the same error, if it is the installation media like specified in install, then what installation media would you recomend? (ive tried 3 pc's and 3 game copy's)

Have you tried e-mailing [email protected]?

It could be a security or virus scanner that is interfering with the installation.

Have you tried copying the files from the CD to your hard drive and running the install from there?
