Ship engine "vapor"

I've been wondering this for a while but really didn't bother posting about it as it didn't bother me. My problem is that the engine "flame" from ships in combat doesn't work properly. It will either not show up at all or, in some models, will show up in the exact center of the basic template or in some other wierd location. Just been wondering if this is a bug. I remember a patch added an option to turn off engine flame, why turn it off when it doesn't work in the first place?

If its a problem with my pc:
AMD 3000+xp
1gb ram
6800 GT

I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if the graphics were just screwy. However, perhaps having a title of "ship" engine vapor, not "shit" would bring more people who could help...

Yes, I have discovered it too. Mostly, the engine "flames" or vapor is not seen at all. It is a minor bug though.

I know this is 'just' a computer game which takes some liberties toward the laws of physics, but here goes....

Who said that the 'engines' in GalCiv II propel starships through the exhaust of some particle?

A jet engine has a flame because of the 'hot and compressed air' which flows through it. It it this flow of air particles that propels the aircraft.

A rocket engine has a flame because of the solid or liquid propellant is burns. It it this exhaust of propellant particles which propels the rocket.

Do you have any idea how much particles you would need in your starships' 'gas tank' to accelerate a 500 meter tall, 1000,000,000,000 + ton starship to near light speed? Suffice it to say: too much!

For example: the warp drive (from star Trek) 'bends' space between point A and B, so that these points in space itself become 'closer'

For a nice gaming experience: just suppose that the engines have no exhaust! Instead they have nice colourfull surface which they use to manipulate space itself....

If you can figure out how, there might be a Nobel Prize for you!

Lol AdmiralZ, i get it. Like, the Vapor from them center is a exhaust fan, blowing unusable engine stuff into space .....or maybe it's the sewage pumps? People gotta poop...

Fixed my typo, lol.

Ya if you played beta they had something like a vapor trail, nothing like homeworld but it was cool none the less. I was just wondering if it was a bug or my hardware. I noticed that a lot of eyecandy like that in this game is buggy.

I have never seen the vapour trail. I noticed the option to turn it on or off in the options, and mine is on, but I've still never seen it.

Ya I was confused by their adding an option for it when it doesn't even work. Thats why I thought it was my computer, since obviously they seem to think that the trails work in the game.
