You boys and girls are going to have to upgrade the server that hosts this forum ....

With all the fame and success GC2 has brought you, I suspect your user count has increased dramatically over the past few months, and I am --very frequently-- getting errors when trying to view posts, a sure sign that the server or its software is having capacity issues.

There's definitely some issue and I agree it's very annoying. They're working on it.

Hey don't complain about this server. They have it since 1852 and never had any problems before!

Definitely needs sorting - its a bad distraction from a well deserved image of close dev/customer contact and excellent response to game issues. As a "Front of House" piece of software its defenitely becoming "tired" and not up to the usual Stardock standard - if I was in Stardock Marketing I would be beating down internal doors to get resource allocated to get it sorted. Speed of Response and slow (inconsistent) navigation would be my main comment.

Those that know Stardock/GalCiv, know the dev's are perfectly capable of sorting it out - its obviously an internal resource/priorities issue. The Retail software is by in large excellent, but those new to Stardock see this in their first contact . Its not a good promotional vehicle. I am sure someof the techniques involved in Stardock's Object DeskTop, skins, themes etc etc are transferable to here. That would make a drop dead site with mega WOW factor, a great promotional vehicle, and yet more for GalCiv fans to hold up to their friends - as every Marketer knows, everyone likes to feel part of a 'winning' team

Regards
Zy

I don't have much trouble if I sign on from college during the early morning hours, but there are busy times when it can get so bad I don't even bother to try...fortunately, I have GalCiv2 to play when I can't play Stardock Forums.

While we're talking about forum problems, I've noticed that when I post a reply, the thread I posted in doesn't move to the top of the forum. What's up with that?

Peak time appears to be between 8:00PM-1:00AM CDT during the week.

also, the forums don't update the threads when someone has recently posted in them say like 5 minutes ago and its still not up near the top of the board and instead it takes like a half hour or more sometimes for it to update those threads. every forum I've been to puts the newest posts at the top of the board immediately, while there is an annoying delay here of well, a long time....

This forum is run by a 386, you have to forgive them as they are working with what they got.

Does anyone have problem with using the forum under Mozilla Firefox? I stopped after being so annoyed with strange page updates every few seconds and clicking 'back' something like 10-20 times in quick succession after reading posts proper.

Works fine in Firefox. Sure you don't have an extension going haywire?

yea well I'm using IE and I'm having the problem where the forum only updates the newest posts every half hour or so, which is what it seems programmed to do and is really annoying.
