The Miranda

(Click thumbnail images for larger version)

Polygon Count (triangles): 2,512
Defuse Mapping: None.
Light Mapping: Everything.
Normal Mapping: Nope.
Ship Builder Hardware Mounts: Yep.
In-Game Hull Size: Medium.
Hours listening to Beethoven: 1.5.
Original Mesh: Rick Knox.

So, after spending countless hours rebuilding and optimizing meshes for my previous ships, I came across a nice little (humungous, actually) community of Starfleet Command 3 modders who have ported just about every conceivable star trek ship to a Starfleet Command game format. Seeing that there are so many ships available that are the high quality I am looking for in my own ships, I have decided that I will build my model pack for GalCiv2 using these ships whenever possible. The quality you’ll see will be the same as my existing ships, but the poly count will be lower! Prepare for major poly-shrinkage!!!

Oh, also, those of you who are planning on using this hull pack, please go here and submit my form so that I can track how many people are into this sort of stuff

Alright, so here is the Miranda (a slighting modified version of the Miranda class actually). The mesh is sparse, and almost all the detail has been collapsed to textures. I added my own lighting pass and created GalCiv2 ready files.

Again I am using fully lit textures, so no lighting done within the GalCiv2 engine itself. Since I am able to produce GalCiv2 ready high quality models using these Starfleet Command mod ships in much less time then I took me previously, I plan on releasing many more ships in this mod pack then the ships in the table bellow. Stay tuned for updates (use this form if you want to receive email updates when new ships are available).

As usual, these ships are not yet available for download. If you really really really want to try them in a rough form, mail me and you can help with an alpha test.

Here is the list of ships, not including the new ships I plan to do:

Cargo: Oberth Model A (120m) [Finished. link]
Oberth Model B (120m) [Finished. link]
Tiny: Shuttle (~10m) [Finished. link]

You should put these up in the library.

Words fail to describe your absolute awesomeness. See, I just had to use a word I'm fairly sure isn't real just to try.

One question though, will they change colour with the race colour? Or is it only me that wants to see a green defiant?

: ) I didnt work the race colors into any of the models. I think they would just come out looking odd, as the shading and lighting for those areas would be different then the rest of the hull.

If I may ask a question, so you arent using the deisgner for ships in GC2, but using another? Just wondering because these ships looks outstanding.

I am building them in 3ds max, and importing them into GalCiv2. You can use the designer to place your hardware, or build onto the ship hulls if you'd like.
