Guess What? It started crashing again.

After installing cachemanXP, I got 4 crash free days, but I am now at the end of my game and have fleets everywhere ready for the war to end wars. But alas, it's not to be, because its started crashing again every few turns. I have casheman auto recovering when mem gets to 200 meg but it would seem at this stage that’s not enough. How much memory does this game want? It's a hog, a glutton, a big greedy ******** of a game.
One day in the far, far future I might actually finish a game of GalCiv2

I'm in the same boat. Just when the game is getting good on a gigantic map, it is crashing every few turns. Sigh. I don't know what to do. It crashes at unpredictable times, the last couple when moving a single ship. The worst is immediately after loading a saved game! I don't want to abandon the game, but it is hard to see finishing it with it crashing all the time. Each turn can take a long time and the saves have no guarantee of loading.

I already had several instances of the game crashing while saving. A crash that corrupts my quicksave is really very frustrating, so please look into these issues some more, guys.

A little suggestion: If you don't find the reason why the game crashes while saving, please code the saving in such a way that the savegame is first written to a backup location, and only if a successful savegame is created in that location, does the game overwrite the original save file with the one in the backup location. Hopefully, savegames wouldn't be corrupted then, even if it crashes during saving
