Dyson Spheres

Has consideration been given to Dyson Spheres or the variations on the concept as a future enhancement?

For those of you not familiar with the concept, a Dyson Sphere is a theoretical object or series of objects orbiting a star to collect energy radiating from the star. The most popular idea is a solid shell completely surrounding a star but series of rings or independent satellites can also be considered Dyson Spheres. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyson_sphere)

For game play, these structures would provide credits depending on the type of star, the star's strength, and the coverage of the Sphere. This might require introducing a class system for stars similar to planets. The Spheres would likely be built by Constructors similar to Star bases. Each Constructor would allow a percentage of the star to be "covered" increasing the credits earned. If a Sphere is built on a star with habitable planets, the planet's class would decreases as more of the star is eclipsed. Depending if the structure begins at the star's equator or poles, the loss of habitable planet class could decrease disproportionately to the total star coverage. It would also provide a good use for "dead systems" where no habitable planets orbit a star.

What does everyone think?

This is in many, currently active, posts. Please search the forums before posting.

And I certainly hope not, energy is not an issue with cold fusion, making them entirely worthless.

FWIW the Search button is over on the left in the site menu and not on the upper right where I would expect it to be. I looked for it before and didn't find it.

Dyson Rings are Inferoir

Niven Rings are Superior

Huh?...It's Dyson "Sphere".
Larry Niven came up with the idea of the Ringworld as an intermediary step between planets and Dyson Spheres.

They were considering it in the game.. However, after the FDA/ free trade investors put a ban on the TYSON Chicken Sphere, claiming it an oligopoly that gave them an unfair buissness advantage. Tyson had to close down several facilities which lead to an unfortunate end in the research of the dyson sphere. Tyson was hoping the spheres would make cooking thier chickens easier and more cost effective for end user consumers..

it amazing how you can say something completely idiotic, and make it sound intelegent by using big words and complex sentence.. I wish I had some HTML links to make it look more credible..

Hahaha.. some people think to much..
googleplex.. Bless you..
