Does AI use up extra ability picks?

You know how when you choose a race, the abilities tab shows that some races have "extra" ability picks. For instance, I think the Altairans have something like 5 extra picks.

So does the AI, when playing as one of those races, use up those picks? or do they play as the plain vanilla defaults?

I always wondered about this... does the AI use your last pick or use its own?

I don't know either but I'll bet they do use the extra picks.

What I think would be interesting to know is how they pick them. Are they picked by random(random number generator)? Or is there a set usage table? As in each AI race always uses the same picks as set in stone by the devs. I would think it would be random but you never know, maybe not.

At any rate, good question.

The game needs to be fixed to give each race ZERO available ability points with its default setting.

Wrong! The races have different ability picks at the beggining, and to say something like the iconians get the same picks as the humans is stupid. They have so much extra tech it isn't funny, so they get less points.

And yes, in an AAR Brad did he once said "The AI has put it's points into economy"
