Life as a Yor

What would life as a Yor be like?

Biological species find it hard to see what it would be like to bio-mechanical. Because of this I've been doin' some hard thinkin' on what life as a Yor would be like.

EX: Aphrodisiac: A Yor inserts the chip into his "main frame' and he gets the sudden urge to build a wife.

Think about it, if you were a Yor how would you think your daily life would be like if everyone was like a Yor? (Also the ultra-spices how's that work with em' eh?)

I think life as anyone in the gal civ2 era must be pretty crappy.

You are just about to buy a new house, settle down with your lovely wife and bang, you and 3 billion other citizens are shoved into a transport ship and zoomed across light years to fight to the death with some other bunch of citizens who wanted no more than to enjoy a restfull weekend.

Ok you are one of the few who survive and you are marched into the factories to turn out more transports to invade the next world.

sigh

Well, hey, they've got their Entertainment Centers. Thing's also get somewhat better for them once they get the higher forms of government. It would be better for them if they had a choice to join in on Intergalactic conquests, via a standing military, or to just sit back as a non-combatant. So only a percentage of the population fights.

In regards to the Yor, if they could transform, they would kick SO much more butt.

Also, I don't think they need to actually build theirself a spouse and progeny. They probably have nanos that play the part of sperm, or mini-builders of robotic life. They take from the body of the "female" Yor and create the body of the new Yor from her own materials. It could work.

I wonder if they play GalCiv2 in their entertainment centers ...

I find it funny too how large masses are fighting wars. A slight bloodfest if 10-20 billion people die. It's also a bit big transport ship if it can carry and support eg. 1 000 000 000 soldiers. The game doesn't seem to make a difference wether the soldier is a grandma, an infant or the Rambo himself. You can drain a planet's population freely till there's just a few million left. Perhaps they've read too many soviet army strategy guides.

I just want to meet the people on these planets who are cranking out a birth/growth-to-maturity rate of a few billion per planet EVERY WEEK!

They use Kamino cloning but 7x faster

I also remember another thing. In one of my first games I had to set the taxation rate to 100% which made me very unpopular, around 0%. People started dying, oh boy and how. In a week perhaps around 20 billion people vanished somehow, presumably killed themselves. 3 times the current population of earth blew their brains out each week. 3 billion a day. That means a lot of copper, lead, hemphrope and razor blades. In that game I learned that it's not a good idea to buy anything in dept. 3 different payment options which all suck.

When it comes to the soldiers, think of Robert Heinlein's (sp on his name mostlike) Starship Trooper - sure, you can reap the benifits of being a citezen of a higher form of government, as long as you serve your term in the military.

I am kinda laughing my head off at the idea of ships full of killer grandmas going off to take out the drengi.

Playing as the Yor gets some of the most interesting dialog. There's some MOO jokes in there.

What would really suck is if your goverment raises ttaxes to 101%. So instead of klling yourself you have a tax dodge and suddenly the secret police knockdown your door and put in the un-artificial slave center!

If they don't make wives, husbands, or whatever, woudn't they be made at factories? If so, wouldn't the factory increase population growth of the Yors?

That's an interesting idea, Jub. That would be more than a subtle difference and things like that could make the races truly different and also add some flavour.

The Yor would be a rival to the Torians if they had a pop. bonus.

The population of the planet that is recorded is actually the amount of people paying taxes. So those people probably said f--- you, and stopped paying taxes. I doubt that they killed themselves.

Is it? What a weird system. Still the info screen claims that I had less and less population each month/year/week. That's the weirdest thing I've heard. Like children aren't people at all. Planet could be deserted and full of life at the same time. Also I guess only tax paying people can be drafted and sent as colonists.

Hey try this combination as a Yor:

Economics +10
Morale +10
Military Production +20
Soldering +20
Loyalty is already +100
Technologists Party +20 research +1 sensor range
Once you do try this combination, you have 3 points left over. This is a kick-ass combination for the Yor. Try it, I guarantee it will do some damage.
