What does Luck *really* do?

Hi,

So, does anyone know what the Luck racial pick really does?

I'm less interested in anecdotes than data.

Thanks!

Anyway,

Ken

Probably controls the chance of you getting good tiles on planets, events which boost you up or other things of the ilk, along with possibly modifying the chances of getting higher scores on attack and defence rolls during ship combat.

*lol*

I'm not ruling out anecdotes altogether, so feel free! But... I'd love to know if anyone knows what it really does.

Anyway,

(Or maybe it reduces the chance of a game crash? )

The only reproducible benefit I've seen is that it increases your chance of getting a "Lucky Ranger".

Besides that, the benefits are not well-defined. "Creative" has similar poblems.

Hmm. I suppose that if I really want to know, I can change the luck bonus from 25 to something ridiculous, like 500.

Yep. Tell us all what happens.

I THINK it increases the chance of getting nice things from anomalies too.

But that's purely anecdotal.

Maybe what luck does is just luck of the draw

I have tried it at 500%, actually. I did not notice any change from the 25% setting.

Maybe 5000% would do the trick.

Hmmm...
Maybe that would give me the win on the first turn, lol.

It also governs the chance of random events when colonizing.

In fact it increases the chances of all random events occuring, for you anyway.

I thought luck was just that, luck. An increased chance of getting beneficial events.

What do you want more?

I think it increases the chance of positive events such as getting that ranger class ship or something upping your planet's quality by 3 or so.

I don't know exactly what it does, but when I use it, I get a lot more Lucky Rangers- at one time I got 1 a turn for ten turns, and it also increases the chance of getting excellent planet tiles, like 700% manufacturing increases. As for creativity, in my experience, it just increases the likelihood of galactic events and colonization events.

Well, ships and tiles are worth more than random events. Sounds like luck is far more useful than creativity.

Hey, how about bravery? I mean, while we're talking about ambigous bonuses with uninformative descriptions...

Bravery would be good in soldering, upping those points so that you lose less when invading other planets.

Courage/bravery works only when you have weaker stats i think.
