Unimportant question about TGN serial

Hi,

unfortunately GalCiv2 never crashed for me before, so I was glad when it happend yesterday, because I wanted to have a look at my debug.err file

Ok, the messages before it crashed were "Debug Message: Unallocated Mem: 8 bytes of memory from line 1144 of .\Source\editfields.cpp". Sounds like it has something to do with GalCiv2s memory management and I know they work to improve it, so no problem.

But now to my question, in debug.err it also says:

Debug Message: Version v1.1 last updated on: Mon Apr 24 19:03:49 2006
Debug Message: Could not find a TGN Serial No.

Could someone please tell me what that means? I think I registered and playing on metaverse also works for me, so I'm curious...

I have wondered about that too, but for a different reason.

Just about every debug.err contains that line. Go through and look at all the debug.err's in the posts.

But, mine does not say that. That line is missing in all my debug.err's.

It doesn't have to do with the game's serial number, I suspect that it only has to do if you have a subscription to TotalGamingNetwork (TGN). So, if Moosetek bought the game online and downloaded it he should have a TGN serial number.

I am just speculating here and could be horribly wrong So don't quote me

Thank you, that sounds right. I bought a boxed version so (maybe?) I don't have a TNG account and therefore no TNG serial number

Right on all counts.

That's good to know

Nope, I bought the boxed version at Best Buy. The only things I have downloaded are the beta's and 1.1.

Hmm, that's weird. Yarlen said that my assumption was correct. Maybe you purchased something else from TGN, or Stardock online? ObjectDesktop? Wincustomise? etc?
