Survey ship stuck (in stasis) after exploring anomaly

Can't move survey ship after being transported via wormhole b/c not near friendly planet...

This newbie can't figure out a solution to this problem. My survey ship (the one given to me at start-up) was transported via wormhole to distant galaxy. It is now stuck there, even though I have researched advanced life support (I thought it would automatically enable my "crew" to "wake-up" from stasis). I can't upgrade the ship and it is no where near any sphere of influence or another civs "territory." Am I correct to believe that it is just stuck their ad nauseum. What's a leader of a powerful civilization to do with a stranded survey ship? It's darn right embarrassing (lol).

When any of your ships are outside of your range denoted by the thin grey line, they can still move back to an area that is in your range. In short, command it to come back close to home and it will. It won't explore fight or anything on the way, but you'll have full control again when it is back in range.

This also works if you end up with areas under your control that are far apart, ships can cross the void without the needed support if they end up close enough to one of your starbases or planets. Researching life support gives all your ships a boost in range, and equipping more support modules increases it for that particular ship so you might notice the line move when different ships are selected.

Thank you for the reply! The good problem is that the ship will not respond to any "move" command. It will not move by selecting it with a right click, then left clicking in the target "home" area. It only gives me a pop-up message stating that the crew is in stasis; instructs me to put it on autopilot, and that it will eventually move back to an area within my range. Why can't I move that ship? How do I put it on autopilot?

You select with a left click and the right click the destination, unless you have done something to your mouse like set to southpaw mode. Are you a southpaw? These instructions apply if you have system defaults set up...

You should either be able to left click on the survey ship or press tab until it selects it itself, then simply RIGHT click somewhere near your home planet and she will head on home.

for auto-pilot or equivalent: double click the ship and choose auto survey or auto explore

I find sometimes having it set to auto survey or explore will cause it to go screwy; when that's the case I simply turn them off and set the destination to someplace inside the range border.
