crash caused by low ram? slight problem with that as i have 2 gb. ver 1.0x was last i used

it had no issue like this.

somehow i ran out of ram while 1.1 of galatic civilization 2 was loaded. possibly a memory leak issue as i didnt have problems in other versions (even 1.0F )

i am running an amd x2 system but like before i didnt have issues with it.

wonder if that one other bug where if a huge hull with a construction module and rest of the slots best engine in game was equipped in each still means game crash... never got around to reporting that. guess ill find out if my saved game still runs (1.1 save).

Same here - I'm running an AMDX2 system, never had problems before - but after updating to 1.1, I get this "Not enough Memory GalCiv2 will probably crash now" error, which occurs every third save or overwrite. When I restart, the save file is gone. What the?

It must be a memory leak on your system, bacuse I've only got 1 gb of RAM, and 1.1 works fine.

most likely something in the updates, who knows though. lets see what the devs find out.

forgot to add this, error message/number screenie: http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/874/errormessageandnumber1bj.png

I tried the Carielf memory test patch ( see the above link ), and it dramatically shortens the save and load times. It seems stable. You should try it.

The easiest fix / workaround, from what I have been able to gather, is to turn down the background star count.

Set it to 250 or so and see if that helps.

well, i tried the exe anyway. it had no effect. also, disabling saves doesnt help either, itll still crash.
