Regarding the mouse problem.

-yes, I read the bug-fix mentioning the missing cursor and the solution but this is not the exact same.

At the same moment I got the game started it sounded like I had a bird in my case (not cage ). I had the exact same problem when I tried the demo.

Patching to version 1.1 didn't solve the problem, so I started looking around in the options and just for fun checked the Hardware mouse cursor and immediately the bird had gone, at the same second I remove the check in the box the bird is back!

My system:
WinXP Pro SP2
Mainboard: Asus A7V8X-X
CPU: Athlon XP 2800+ (Barton)
RAM: 1GB
Graphics card: MSI GF 6800GT 256MB (AGP)
Sound: Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS

Latest updates and drivers for everything.

My guess is some code in the game somehow interferes with the graphics card in some way, either through DirectX or the firmware (how ever THAT is possible?

Well, that's a new one.

So your video card gets louder when you use the software cursor?

Are you using the NVidia drivers or the MSI drivers for your card? The missing mouse cursor seems to be due to a bug in older NVidia drivers (although the most recent ones seem to do better), so it could be that they're still having issues with Direct3D mouse cursors.

The only thing remotely close to this that I can think of is back in the day of actually worrying about/configuring IRQs you could have a similar situation when an IRQ was being shared between your mouse and your sound card. Whenever you would move your mouse you would here "static" through your speakers. Doubt this is it since Windows manages (in theory) IRQs now. Thought I would throw it out anyway.

i have that problem with my mouse no matter what im running, if the volume is high enough, or im wearing headphones.

Actually, I've had this problem before too. Not with GC2, but other apps and games. I investigated thoroughly, but couldn't figure out what caused it.

Edit: I remember one occurance of this. On M:TW, while scrolling on the campaign map; it always used to do this to me.

I'm using the newest NVidia WHQL drivers the 84.21, as I said: all system is fully updated with all patches and drivers. It's a bit difficult to locate but it does sound like it's the graphics card singing like a bird when using the software mouse cursor. It's the same tune over and over, a shame I don't have a mic so I could record it. Maybe it's a hidden message from space?

As an ex PC builder and repair man I've seen a lot of strange things with computers but nothing like this before.

It seems not to be related to the sound card in any way as I can hear it with my sound turned off (Logitech Z5500). I also tried put all sound sliders in the game down to 0 (null) but it had no effect what so ever.

did you check the case for an actual bird?

i wouldnt want to outrule the obvious

While in your case this may not be the case, others could find that the sound problem they are having is due to a bad ground in their computer case. You may want to check that your power supply is rated for the amount of current you are pulling on the +12V rail. Most models on the cheaper end of the scale don't quite make it, and your PCI(E) or fans might be underpowered. Voltage issues can generate tonal vibrations.

Sorry but no to all three. No bad grounds, PSU is a SilverStone Strider 460Watt, I checked it with my voltmeter when I got it 2 months ago. If you read my first post you will see my graphic card is AGP and not PCI-E. I have more then plenty of power for my setup. If my system was PCI-E I should be able to run SLI with that PSU. I play a lot of games on this computer (some more demanding on my graphics card than GC2) and this is the only time ever in my whole life I've heard anything like this. It's also not the fan on the graphics card as my system is water cooled (CPU/GFX/System 48/55/37C at full load test, harddisks are at 28 and 29C) . My system is not OCed I just like an as quiret as possible computer as it's placed right next to me. It's also not because of me moving my mouse or anything. At the same split second I remove the check for hardware cursor the 'bird starts singing' in the same split second I set the check 'the bird stops singing'.

I build my own compuiters and never use cheap hardware but quality without being the most expencive model (why pay for something I don't use?). I go for stable hardware that is placed in the top 4 in tests.
