AI vs. AI

The quote below was taken from an old post of Cari Begle, the lead developer of GalCiv II, in the dev. journals on 2004/11/19:

One of the cheat keys was the one that made the AI not let the human player take turns, and keep playing after they'd wiped the human race out. This one is going to be crucial to our early testing so that we can see the AI working. It's like fastforwarding through a movie.

Which cheat code is this? It would be cool to watch the AI play itself!!!

What I'd like is to be able to surrender to someone and see how that actually affects the outcome. If the Drengin initiated a 4-way cluster-frak of me, I'd like to be able to surrender to the Arceans and watch them use my worlds to walk all over the Drengin.

That would totally own!

That'd be really nice to see. I mean c'mon, you would still have some of your "Loyal" Followers around somewhere wont you? and maybe you could have a clone of yourself, and know whats going on, lol.

check the wiki (https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Cheats_and_keyboard_shortcuts) - I believe it's cheat 'Z' - although the description is slightly contradictory...

No, this cheat code was described in the dev. journals as allowing a human to take over from one of the AIs, thus allowing a hot-seat multi-player game.

Would someone from Stardock please reply back with the answer?

It is Ctrl-Z.

It would be interesting to see which AI does better after 100 randomly generated games.

I would like to be able to set up an AI only game, and have it running on one of my PCs. It would be far more entertaining than any "reality" TV shows.

It is Ctrl-Z.

... and Ctrl-Shift-Z is the code for a human to take over from one of the AIs, thus allowing a hot-seat multi-player game.

Someone confirm and add Ctrl-Z to the Wiki Link

Ok, I have this running in a window right now. I surrendered to the Altarians, then hit CTRL Z and then TURN. Now Earth belongs to the Altarians and the game is playing on its own. This is pretty cool.

Ok, my bad. It seems like I took over the Altarians? This is ....... odd....

All the planets have the Altarian's logo, but they say Terran Alliance and I can manage their planets if I press CTRL Z to stop it from autoturning. And I have absolutely no influence zones......

I'm gonna play with this a bit and see WTF is going on.

I see what happened. I had Altaria selected in order to speak to them, so the cheat code made their worlds mine. I started a new game, didn't select any planets and surrendered to them, hit CTRL Z and pressed turn, now Earth says it belongs to the Altarian Republic and all the AIs are moving around scouting and colonizing. I can't manage the Altarian worlds this time.

You do know that you don't actually HAVE to surrender to anyone in order to make this work? Destroy all of your ships and colonies, and then you will be gone w/o having to worry about surrendering. This helps when checking a game for balance, as you don't "contaminate" the experiment by giving your assets to some other race.
