Why is this crashing all the time

Why does the game constantly crash after saving a game and exiting correctly, I have faithly updated the game twice and each time this has gotten worse, I spent five hours today playing great, save it and come back an hour later only to find it completely crashed and all my effort lost. I have updated my drivers, etc so I know its not the computer, and by the looks of all these posts its not the only case of this happening, please fix this!

The answer to this question is what probably has the devs working feverishly round the clock to solve. There are some real nasty crash bugs in there somewhere, the trick is finding where. I think it's kind of weird how most are playing it crash free and others with stable computers are suffering constant crashing. I suppose it's a case of today’s technology zooming ahead of the industry’s programmers (no chance of keeping up )
We can only hope they find the offending lines of code soon.

Might be related to your page file size. I had similar problems. Check out the stickied FAQ:

Next most common cause: People who have eliminated their page file or have a very small page file. That's your virtual memory. Check the debug.err and near the top it will say how much virtual memory you have allocated. If it's less than a gig (heck, nowadays you should have at least 2 gigs for virtual memory) then there's your problem.


It also helps to save after about 2 hours of playtime, restart the program and reload. Flushes out all the extra gunk built up in the memory.
