Unreliable Game play

Different errors at different times

I enjoy this game when it works. The background music has not been working for several weeks and last night it started playing again. Today it is back to not working. If I put the game in the Not Full screen mode, it will not scroll. About 25% of the time when the game autosaves. it locks up and I have to restart the computer. This just happened a few minutes ago.

I just wish the game would play correctly.

core directory, where you normally see documents and settings, program files etc, will be a .cra or .bmp log.

The file is in the main GalCiv II folder and the filename is.. 'debug.err'. It just contains text and can be opened up with Notepad.

Hope that helps

The non-full screen no edge scroll is by design, actually. It's to keep the window from scrolling whenever you need to move the mouse away from the game window.

As for the music not working, I would check your sound drivers for available updates. That usually fixes the sporatic behavior for most users.

The "lock up" on save is a known issue in version 1.1. We'll have a new update out as soon as we can. In the meantime, try playing on smaller sized galaxies, or check out this link: https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=164&AID=115672

You may want to try giving your game some time to save. The first time it saves it will take a while, but after that the saves will be faster.

I believe there is another thread that talks about things you can do to reduce the problem, but I am unable to find it at this time. If any one knows where it is, please post a link to it. Thanks.
