Custom and Default ship designs

Where are they?

I know I've seen a thread like this before, but I can't find it.

Where are my custom designed ships kept, and where are the default ships kept?

I hate having to obsolete a ship every time I research a new tech. I don't want the default ship types appearing. Also, I have some custom ships that appear in my build-list, but not in the shipyard, so I can't delete them.

So, am I correct in assuming that I can wipe out all of my custom ships merely my deleting a/some file/s? Also, how much work is it to get rid of the pre-built ships? Thanks.

The custom made ships will be in My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ships. delete both the .xml and .shipcfg files. the Defalut tho I have no idea.

The default ships are stored in the GalCiv2\Data\ShipCfg directory, wherever you've put GalCiv2. There's a load of S$_?.shipcfg files, where the $ = a number from 0 to 5 and the ? is the various ship names. The data file for them is the GC2ships.xml in GalCiv2\Data\English.
