Star Bases

Two Questions

from GalCiv2 Forums
(1) Can Star Bases be given names, like ships and planets? If yes, how do I execute this?

(2) Is there a Governor for Star Bases or a screen to see all Star Bases? If yes, where do I access this?

1) Yes they can, in exactly the same way as starships are.

2) No, starbases do nothing besides sit in space and project a zone of control around themselves within which certain bonuses apply, or mine special resources on the map.

There are four types of base, mining gives you resources from the special deposits on the map, economy boosts trade and production within its area of influence, military aids your starships in battle with its modules and influence gives you an influence outpost within enemy planet clusters. All of them cost a constructor to build then an additional constructor for its modules, which enhance its abilities or provide it with its own weapons and defences.

2) There is a starbases list you can access from the ship screen - the Ship tab of the Planet list lets you select Starbases (as well as your ships/all ships and . . . 1 more choice?).

Along the line of starbases, I just played a game where the terrans built 2 immediately adjacent to each other, within 1 parsec of each other. Anyone else experience this?

yes its perfectly fine, you can do that too now, the rule is i think 4 starbases per sector, doesnt matter how close

Josh, is correct, BUT the AI can still build a base in the same sector as your other 4.....My question unto you is, if you BUY that Starbase, will it be a 5th Base?

I'll bet any money if you try it, it'll go kablooey

Mind you, if it doesn't crash the game, there's an exploit for the rich right there. Build 4 starbases, sell. Build another 4, sell. Repeat a few times. Buy back. ZOMGWTFBBQ! Lots of money
