Galactic Prison Awarded: Please tell player where -- also how much doesn't jive

It makes sense after you hear it, but it is very unintuitive to go to the Foreign Stats -> United Planets screen to read the law which establishes a galactic prison. I believe they should be told which planet gets the Galactic Prison when it is formed so they don't have to hunt for it.

Also... during the vote, I think it says something like a 50% increase? (Or was that 50mp?) The text of the law says it will TRIPLE production. I think the bonus isn't a triple like the text says. Also, kind of confusing that it doesn't show up on the details screen as a bonus.

So to recap...
1] Wish it said WHERE a prison is formed so I don't have to hunt for it.
2] The text of the bonuses (during vote, after it is a 'law') does not match
3] Expected a mention on the planet's detail screen, but it was not there.

To quote the .xml files:

It's the capital planet I think (practically all votes are)

No, it's not the capital. When you get the prison break later, the ships appear around the planet they were imprisoned on, and it wasn't my capital in my last game. I would very much like to know where it is as well! Obviously, sometimes it's easy to tell if you have a small number of planets, and know their stats,so you can tell when they increase, but on larger maps, I can't keep track of details on that level.

Would be kinda neat if the selected planet got a special extra prison tile/building.

It would be nice if you got to choose where it goes, or barring that they tell you in the screen (along with the base production of that planet, meaning what it would produce if it was 100% one thing). That way we could better judge its usefullness.

when i got it it was on mars at least that is where they stole the ships from

You can find which planet has the workers by opening the "foreign stats" tab at teh botom of your screen. Then click the "United Planets" tab at the top of that window that pops up. There you will find any UP resolutions that are in effect at this time. It will list teh name of teh planet that has workers.

Correct, OldDocc, as mentioned in my first post, that is where you find you can end up discovering which planet is your prison planet. Which is very unintuitive, but at the very least, the game should inform you where it is placed at the time it places it.

Marcathonas: Thanks for the UP vote text. Here is what the UP results say *after* the vote describing the bonus:
"Using inmates as workers, production on the planet will triple, as long at the prisoners don't riot."
[Gramatical/spelling error is as presented by the game.] Quite a bit different from a 50% production bonus. It looks like, though, a 50% production bonus is what you end up getting, and not the 300% bonus.

I don't believe the assertion that prisons are placed at capitals is correct. Tthis was not placed at my capital, but some other planet which I'm not sure why it was chosen. (Which I'm fine with that, just wish I was more proactively told which.)

It doesn't go to the capital by default. A planet is picked at random. If you click on that planet's "Details" button, it does show that the planet hosts the prison.

I don't know how much it raises production, but it's not enough to be worth the risk of a pirate fleet appearing over one of your planets.

Ah, ha! I was looking for the prison or the effects of the prison in the bonus section of the [Details] screen. Turns out, it is in the [Description] box on the left hand side that describes how wonderful/horrible the planet is.

BTW, triple isn't 300% since 50% will give you 1.5 times as much and therefore 100% gives you twice as much.

It's a bit confusing, but I think 300% bonus would give you 4 times as much.

[nod] Okay... then to sum things up....

1] BUG: Correct the text on the Foreign Stats -> United Planets screen to give a correct indication of the bonus for the prison (not 300%). Easily done.

2] FEATURE REQUEST: Tell the player where a galactic prison (or other voted on reward) is built if it just affects one planet. Tell the player, of course, in the same breath that you tell them they won it, which planet, if possible.

3] UNSURE: Should this also show up as a bonus on the details screen, or just the text on the left?
