Influence Starbases; a question

Do influence starbases increase my planets influence if i build them near my planets ie like an economy starbase? Im currently working on an influence victory and starbases have gotten expensive, wondering if i should continue placing them near my opponents or should i put one down near a large clump of high influence producing planets?

While they will help your planets from flipping, ISB's do not magnify existing influence. They are remote influence centers (ie: Voice of America during the cold war). I just finished an influence war....they got up to 7,000bc each and there were several I couldn't decom because the planets weren't flipping, or there were other ISB's I needed to counter. Place them near the target planet for best effect.

Be careful about placing them in too remote a location, the AI won't like it on the higher levels. If you can cover a target AND your own planet, all the better
