Very skippy!!

Scrolling around the 3d planet-level view is choppy/skippy

Well, I figured my on-board video could handle this but I'm guessing it can't...

Copying and pasting my last invoice from newegg/monarch:

EPoX EP-9GF6100-M Socket 939 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200)
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Dual-Core 1MB Per Core 90nm (939) (Retail Box-w-Fan)

I have already changed affinity (set the game to only use 1 cpu, sometimes this helps) and it didn't do anything for me. Windows XP Pro.

Would you say my onboard video is to blame?

I had my heart set on playing MOO2 but it won't run on anything after dx2, 9c isn't backwards compatible to that point. Heard this game is similar and BETTER so I really want to check it out. Won't purchase the game until this gets figured out. Just trying to play the demo for now.

Hmm, here is the sticky link for dual core machines:
Link

Basically, make sure your video and audio drivers are up to date (as in 2006), and try disabling anti-aliasing.

I think the demo will create a debug.err log file. Can you post this please? It is created in your GalCiv2 folder and can be opened in notepad or wordpad. Just copy and paste the whole file.

Here's the nVidia Link

And you might try turning off the anti aliasing in your options menu.

EDIT: I think this is the link for your audio drivers as well:

I guess the drivers+turning off anti alias did it! It still seems a little "clicky" or... well... hm... you know when winamp or trillian "snaps" to the sides of your desktop? kind of like that. Is this intentional or am I still not up to par here?

Good news. Now, can you explain in a little more detail what you mean? I'm not following you as I have never used winamp, and haven't used trillian in years. Maybe you are referring to the screen snapping to units or back into it's fixed camera view? Not quite sure, also...

It might help if you run the game again, then post your new debug.err log.

you know now that I've taken a second look it seems fine. thanks for all the help!!

No problem. Just keep in mind the new 1.1 retail update is out, so what you are getting in the demo is just a small taste of what is out now. Upgrade already!
