Omega Research Center

What does it do?

The description says that it provides a +50% bonus to research. When I build it, I never notice a sudden decrease in research times. Does it only affect the planet it is built on, or are its effects galaxy-wide?

How many other research buildings do you have.
I have noticed some pretty good increases with it. But by that time I'll have a couple dozen NLC's also.

The issue is whether or not to build it on my technological capital. If it is a galactic bonus then I am just wasting space that could be used for an NLC.

I'm pretty sure that the Omega Centre only affects the planet that it's built on... similarly to the Omega defence system...

I'm not 100% sure, but it did build it on my tech capital, and noticed no other beaker changes on other planets.

The Omega Research Center affects the planet it is built on only.

That could be why I noticed a decent change. It was on a world with several NLC's and the Tech capital.

I'm not so sure about that. I built it on my economic capital (no room anywhere else) and I got a big boost to an already large research production. It was the only research building on that planet.

The in game description is vague, but I did notice that it was written this way on the wikipedia site:

Omega Research Center: Increases research on planet by 50%

Not under the center itself, but under the galactic acheivement listing. I would be interested to know for sure, but one tile usually isn't a big loss on a tech capital planet, especially compared to the loss if it is planet only and you put it somewhere with hardly any research power.

My ORC is built on a PQ 24 planet with -- I kid you not -- TWO Technological capitals and all other squares taken up by NLCs. The beaker output is obscene. Seriously obscene. Like XXX sort of obscene.

Its also how I went from having 10% of the galaxy under my control to having 98% of the galaxy under control without engaging in even one battle. Its amazing how far research into the Diplofluence techs will get you.

You were probably doing at least 80% of the research in the galaxy.

I'd like to know as well!
