M-m-m-onster fleet of Rangers

Now thats even more strange...i just loaded the game and know what? the fleet got reduced to one ranger , probably cause the logistics of the korx only allowed one per fleet

I'm still astounded by people posting about the rangers. I've been playing the game for a month and have never seen one of these things. Is there some checkbox i need to hit or something? Am I the only who never gets that random event (I've also never gotten the I-League). Is it more likely on Masochist or suicidal difficulties?

I think I-Legue is like [race name], a place holder, because i got a the Fundementalists once which were a group of planets who simply declared independence. Also, it could be that rangers apear less on higher dificulties maybe? Because when i played cakewalk-easy, i got a ranger event very often, from tough and up i never got any.

It was on tough and the rangers didnt dispeared from the game when reloading...they were returned to their home planets (or something like).

btw i got a ranger only once and it was on beginner or something alike. as far as i remeber there has always been a meesage if somone found one. but there was no message when his ships got upgraded(?) to rangers. perhaps by some bug he could upgrade them to rangers

I'm beginning to wonder... If I do see a ranger (singular not plural) another race gets it.

When I see a ranger I buy it as it will cost me more to try and kill it. lol

Rangers aren't all that useful anyway. The weapons are ok, but the armor stinks. Plus it doesn't have any extra engines, so it moves at the base speed of whoever owns it. Even with hyperwarp researched, it's only going to move at 4 per turn. Or 5 if that race has gravity accelerators.

Actually, the truly scary thing is that they're only "light" cruisers. Imagine one of their battleships.

I've found Rangers in every game I've ever played, except for my most recent one. Heck, I once got the Ranger event on two consecutive turns.

They are slow as Christmas, and they only have armor (no shields or point defense), but with their monstrous attack values and hit points, I've never lost one in combat yet (and after a few successful Ranger-vs.-Enemy Fleet battles, their hit point totals really get obscene.

If I had to guess about why you haven't had the Ranger event triggered for you yet, I'd guess that you don't have much of a "Luck" attribute for the races you play: The description screen when you find a Ranger Class starship describes the discovery as "a stroke of luck," and the Rangers themselves are all named "Lucky Ranger." Call me paranoid, but things like that make me believe that the "Luck" attribute may somehow be involved.

My first game on beginner I got this event, that pretty much ended the game though as I walked over anyone in my path with it.

There was a glitch in one of the betas that would allow you to build Rangers. Are you upgraded to 1.1? Was the game started during a beta?
