Journal Entry: Year 2230, December 15: The war has turned and Drengin Empire in ruins...

My first tough AI with me being custom player and wanted to make a story out of it...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Background: I am playing a Custom race named: D'hara Empire (cheesy name ripped from terry goodkind but hey love his book). D'hara are also Terrans (humans) who left Earth during the 20th Century; but no one knows how they got to the planet. To be able to progress, the inhabitants discovered Altarian technology on the planet they were mysteriously transported in. Thus, my ships are Altarian Design. Earth and D'hara technology grew almost at the same time, but it was Earth that shared the hyperdrive technology. Although technology is similar, Being seperated for so long from Earth, D'hara have developed new sense of culture and religion (thus the huge population growth traits)

More tidbits:
Universalist Party; with population growth as its main advantage.
Map: Large (the map prior to the biggest one)
Not many habitable planets (which i deem more realistic)
All 9 races including custom race means 10 Major players in the Galaxy. Had to spraypaint with Paint program to show you the places of the Races at the beginning

Story takes place 286 Weeks after since the start of the game ( meaning 5 years has passed with hyperdrive technology shared by the humans). It will be pretty hard to tell the story backwards, but I hope to make it interesting.

The perspective will be taken from DIFFERENT Captains of vessels throughout the D'hara Empire

Now onwards to the story...

Journal Entry of D'hara Flagship Vessel (Survey Vessel for short, yes he survived with no upgrades!): Year 2230, December 15: The war has turned and Drengin Empire in ruins...

No one would ever have imagined how this war has turned. Our Allies, The Altarian Republic, Terran Alliance, Iconian Refuge, and recently new member, Acrean Empire all let out a sign of relief seeing the tragic long war ending soon. The enigmatic Thalan Empire stayed at the sidelines secretly funding several empires against the dreaded Drengin Empire.

The Drengin Empire is truly a race to be given respect. Thier military and technology were once unsurpassed conquering planet after planet, and Empires paying tribute to them. Those who placed up resistance were easily vanquished under thier Military Superiority. The once great Torian Confederation was the only empire at the beginning who truly spoke against the cruelty of the Drengin and fought against them. Perhaps because the Torians ,who were once slaves to the Drengin, refused to be subjugated again. The war between them was short and swift. The Drengin Empire outclassed thier more peaceful neighbor. It is a shame that this peaceful race who spanned the stars were just a relic of the past, with Drengin Empire finally conquering the Torian Homeworld just 3 years back.

Yet today, our D'hara Solders have just conquered and liberated the Toria System. My survey vessel has witnessed the D'hara Armada and billions of solders enter the planet Toria once were held by the Torians. Sadly, upon looking at the people of Toria, we easily see that Torians will never again be able to form thier own government. In just 3 years, the cultures prevalent are now relics of the past and the peoples will are scattered and broken. The Torian Confederation is truly gone. The Drengin Solders who occupied the planet were indeed superior in both tactical strength and technology. It is only thru our mass numbers and mini-solders were we able to liberate the planet. Our staticians say that our troops only had a rating of 75 against the Drengin who had 117.

The current situation looks grim indeed for the Drengin Empire. Our D'hara Solders have recently aquired several planets including thier homeworld. The remaining Drengin are desperately trying to form a counter-offensive against our D'hara armada. The Drengin are surrounded in all sides, With our D'hara Troops attacking from the North, Iconian and Altarian located in the west while the Arceans and Terran Alliance attack from the east.

My Survey Vessel Sensors indicate Terran Frigates and Altarian Cruisers attacking the remaining Drengin Worlds. It is only a matter of time before this long ardorous war is over.

Captain of D'hara Flagship Vessel log out.

notes: More stories coming soon with Dominion of Korx, Drath Empire, and Yor Collective disappearance. You can see in the map that D'hara did attack from the North. The Iconian Refuge and Thalan Empire is staying out of the war.

Journal Entry: Captain of Fleet USR-Crab-03
Year 2230, December 15

Currently Stationed above the Planet Iconia. The Planetary Governor tells me that the construction of the Constructor-Ceti ships are ahead of schedule. The governor is as always impressed with the Yor technology we had aquired when we invaded thier planet. Perhaps being Robotic Sentient Beings, they are superior in manufacturing.

As I order my Pilot to make the usual rounds around the planet, my mind wanders on how D'hara Empire actually went to war against the Yor Collective. Just a year after we were given the hyperdrive technology ( Year 2225), D'hara was vastly expanding its borders with colonizing planet after planet. So intent we were expanding our borders, we never bothered building up our military strength. It is not until we met the Yor were we forced to go to war and think of military terms.

The Yor collective were diplomatic at first. Although strange to see robotic faces, we were quite happy in diplomacy with the exchange of technology such as industrial or reserch techniques. It is then we noticed an increase number of Yor scouts exploring our empire. Our global network confirmed numerous scouts not only from Yor but from our friends, Altarian and Terran empire. Our general informed us that we were to proceed in creating defensive ships orbiting our planet. Thus our first vessel USR-Crab-01 was born and defend our skies.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Perhaps the General Commander was being paranoid then when he ordered us to build defensive ships. We had to spend an significant of amount of our budget to build those ships at a cost of our social production. Using our barely researched weapon technology, USR-Crab-01 had lasers and Ion Drive attached.

But it may have been our General Commander paranoia that may have saved our empire. When the Yor saw our slow military buildup, they declared war on us in hopes of conquering us while we were so weak. Rumours say that the higher up commanders may have foreseen this when our diplomats were being bombarded with unsavory demands such as money tribute or technology. Nevertheless, when the Yor declared war, our Military went into full swing, and scientist have started researching beam weapons in hopes to improving our ship weaponry. It was the start of bad things to come.

The war frightened our people into action. During that time, we heard the Drengin Empire was at war with the Torian Confederation as well. When the Drengin Empire heard of our conflict, they joined in siding with the Yor. Rumours were saying how our Emperor Richard Grayston refused the demands of tribute to the Drengin Empire that caused this rift. Other people say it is because of the Yor's close ties with the Drengin thus they went to our with us.

In a span of 3 weeks, we were at war with two races; Yor and Drengin. Things were not looking good for the D'harian people. There was only one thing that saved us from total annahilation. Our natural bounderies. For the Drengin to reach our borders, they had to pass thru Altarian and Iconian territory who werent fond of the Drengin.

Our commanders must have known this that is why they focused thier sights on the Yor. The Yor territory was relatively small based from the information from merchants and traders. It is composed of only 2 planets. Perhaps it was just luck that we were located so far from the Yor that they only sent one or two fleets at a time. Nevertheless in a span of 1 year, in defending our territories from thier attacks, we saw ourselves right at the doorstep of the Yor Collective with a stronger Military force we thought was not possible before the war.

It turns out the rumours were true they held only 2 planets. Being located in such as desolated space, they had limited resources and sparse research. Thanks to our brave solders, we defeated the Yor empire in two swift invasions.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The Drengin once learning of the Yors defeat sent thier own fleet in an attempt of dislodging our forces from the once occupied Yor. It took 2 fleets of our most powerful Galaxy class ships UTR-Dolphins before they were defeated.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The Drengin Empire were our peopls worst nightmare. At Year 2226, Drengin finally sent one fleet of ships towards the Yor Homeworlds in hopes of claiming it for themselves. This was thier first assault against us as well. It was this time the Torian Confederation finally lost the war and surrendered to the Dominion of Korx (allies of the Drengin Empire).

Once we have learned of thier intent, the two fleets composed of USR-crabs USR-Orions defending the system were sent to engage the Drengin Fleet. Each fleet had at least 30 logistic points worth. We had at least over 50 beam attack capability.

Never did we realize our mistake in our difference in technology, until our fleet was attacked the Drengin Assault Fleet. Our records shown the Drengin ripped apart the defensive formation with thier own superior beam weapons.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Realizing this mistake, we immediately sent out most powerful fleet to destroy this invasion. The battle was bloody with both sides having heavy casualties. It is only when the Altarian declared war against the Drengin at the year 2227 did thier fleet backed off to return to the Drengin Worlds.

Presently, Iconia is being used as a staging point to launch an assault against the Drengin. I hear the campaign is successful just recently conquered worlds of Drengi and Toria. I can finally see the end of the 6 year war coming to a close soon.

notes: just to let you guys know, Yor were very unlucky bastards having only 2 worlds at the start of the game. They had virtually nothing to expand with. (see the big empty space in the map). They were the first race the D'harian Empire conquered.

I am quite lucky indeed if you look at the map again, it is true the the Altarians and Iconians were the only thing that saved me against the Drengi. Being so far, we were very very lucky.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Now some question still left unanswered, how did the Terran Alliance aquired the Torian planets when they were surrendered to the Korx? What happened to the Korx and Drath Empire. Hopefully I will answer those questions in the next journal.

Probably me being paranoid, but you do know you can change the size of ship components right?

Its just your ships seem to have the stock sizes and its making them seem a little odd.

Journal Entry: Captain of Fleet USR-Dolphin-04
Year 2230, December 15

Our fleet composed of 6 USR-Dolphins have finally arrived in the Drengin System Vesta. The journey has mostly been uneventful. Our commanders are waiting to see how the results of the latest generation of galaxy size starships will fareout against the Drengin Ships. Our goal is to minimize casualty as much as possible. In order to do that, we need to test our new Dynamic Shielding our scientist have researched to fight the devestating beam weapons of the Drengin Fleets. We are also equipped with the latest photonic torpedos shared by our allies the Altarians.

It is funny to think that it is because of the Altarian Republic that the D'hara Empire was saved. When the Altarian declared war on the Drengin on the year 2227, Nearly all Drengin Assaults ceased against our newly conquered Yor homeworld. I was commander of one of the earlier USR-Dolphin Class Ships that held off the Drengin Assault. Perhaps it was this breathing space that I was immediately sent back to D'hara with a new assignment for my ship and crew.

My new assignement: Lead the newly built fleet of USR-Dolphins and USR-Crabs against the Dominion of Korx. Our goal is to send out new fleet against the Korx in a surprise attack.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

So shocked I was with my new assignment, I questioned it right away against going against the Korx. The Dominion of Korx has been one of D'hara earliest trade partners and friends. Maintaining a peaceful relationship stabalized the southern region of the galaxy. Commander General Rubeous, who is my friend back in the Command center on D'hara informed me that the Korx have now close ties with the Drengin Empire and are now with war with the Altarians and thier small neighbor, Drath Legion. The close relationship was because of the fact of the remaining Torian wolrds were surrendered to the Korx. Perhaps it was a Drengin Strategy. Should the Altarians lose this war, our chances for survival against the Drengin is non-existent. It is because of this that we are forced to backstab our friends Korx in an effort of survival.

The Drath Legion have been unfortunate in going to war with the Korx. Like the Yor, Drath only has a few colonized planets. Korx sensing this weakness decided to declare war against the Draths. It was a one-side war. In a span of 10 weeks (mid 2227), the Drath Legion surrendered giving the remainder of thier worlds to the D'hara empire. It was also during this time, our fleet was enroute to the newly conquered Korx worlds. By the end of 2227, we have decided to strike against our once held friends.

Our first target were liberating the newly conquered Drath Worlds. Seeing how minimal the defenses were, we decided to act before they establish a proper military presence. We did an eagle strike taking 7 worlds in the first week. The Korx ambassador was recalled, so furious were they against this treachery.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

In war, there is no right or wrong, only the right to survive. There is no friends in war, only enemies. So true those words held. Our biggest surprise was when we encountered a new Korx presence just inside our D'hara Territory beside D'hara. Commanders and Captains were wondering how they even manage to mount an attack or get past the invading fleet of USR-Dolphins-03 which I lead.

A few days has past before our spies in the Terran Alliance have informed us that they have been funding the Korx against us by giving them ships to attack our worlds. The Terrans who are part in the Alliance formed together with the Altarians, and Iconians (note: Arceans joined later on).

It was a good thing there was a smaller fleet stationed to protect against this kind of invasion. A fleet composed of USR-Crabs-03 held back the onslaught of Terran Frigates and Battleships controlled by the Korx. It was a tense time. The Terran Alliance ultimate betreyal caused a rift in the diplomatic relationships. Would we also go against another friend?

In the year 2228, did the Terran Alliance sent thier apologies. Apparently, there was a small number of Generals in thier Military were worried against our sphere of influence and growing Military might. Another group of merchants had big investments with the Korx thus unwilling to lose thier profits, supported our enemies. To make up with thier transgression, they agreed to support the alliance in going against the Drengin Empire.

It was during this time as well that we have finally conquered the Korx homeworld at last and broken thier sphere of influence. The Altarians sensing in defeating their enemies: the Korx conquered a small number of planets. Perhaps it was the irony of the terrans supporting the Korx that swayed thier decision to surrender thier remaining homeworlds to the Terran Alliance.

Another Irony was that the Arceans and Thalans were funding our empire against the Drengin Empire. They too were worred against the growing military might but were too afriad to act upon it.

With the Dominion of Korx gone, The full might of the Alliance: Terrans, Altarians, Iconians and D'hara pooled all thier resources against the Drengin Empire. We must take note, 5 Civilizations going against the Drengin Empire, you would think our chances of success were good. It was only with the joining of the Arceans did the tide of war turned.

Now back to the task at hand, Drengin Rule threat has been crushed. but thier military might is still worrying. One of thier fleet can still take out any fleet in the galaxy. Only when the Drengin are defeated will there be peace.

Thanks for those replies. I did actually see Brads journals and figure I could do something similar since there arent so many willing to do stories of thier conquest.

as for this.
Probably me being paranoid, but you do know you can change the size of ship components right?

Its just your ships seem to have the stock sizes and its making them seem a little odd.

Your quite right, i never knew that you can change the ship components.

Thanks for that heads up. Thats why I named my ship Crab because it looked liked one with that huge engine and lasers. Now that i know that those components can be resized, perhaps in the next game will I do that.

now for clarification: When Torians surrendered to the Korx, the korx surrendered to the Terrans. Thus there are terran worlds located beside the Drengin Empire. I will probably do one last journal of the leader of the empire d'hara. Richard Graystone. This will tell the diplomatic ties, reasons for not invading the bastard Terrans for funding the Korx and his plans for the future (note i havent finished the game yet, though i believe it is nearly finish. Once i get rid of Drengins and make the Thalans my ally)
