Download speed

only 100k?

You know..paying for a digital download, I'd expect some speed out of it. I normally pull down around 300k, maybe a little more, and here I am only getting 80-100k (its bouncing back and forth)for such a massive download. Is there any kind of mirroring or load balancing in place here?

Depends on what you're downloading.

If you're downloading an UPDATE versus a full GDC file, it's going to be somewhat slower.

But a GDC file should download at 300k or more.  I downloaded all of GalCiv II a couple days ago onto my home machine via Comcast and it was 500K+ per second.

I'm sorry to bump this post after a few months.
I'm having a problem with the download speed of Dark Avatar. All the other packs, gc2, heightmaps, tutorials, download with about 5 MiB/s, but Dark Avatar is stuck at about 25 kiB/s. When I installed DA a few days ago (new computer, crash, hd wipe), it was exactly the same. Everything downloads fast but DA. Any ideas on what is causing this?

You might want to try switching servers in SDC's internet settings (there are two to choose from).
