Does the AI know I supported its enemies with ships?

Had a funny game just now. The Yor were at war with the Torians, and losing badly. So I decided to give them some of my ships, and over the course of about 10 turns they received almost half of my fleet. I usually build small, but very advanced fleets, and my ships were suited perfectly for fighting Torian ships. (They used Beam weapons, myself MDs and Barrier defenses). However, due to the AIs incompetence of using my ships (it didn't put them into fleets, but had them charge all separately into Torian fleets consisting of about 12 ships, when it could've won a few battles if it had just put them into fleets), the Yor surrendered eventually. 2 turns later the Torians declared war on me. Now my question is: Does the AI know I supported its enemy with ships and technology? Or is this just a coincidence? This game has a lot of fun potential, as I'm also in a war with the Iconians, who also declared war on me for "living space". The same reason the Altarians used when they declared on, and were promptly eradicated, by me. (Notice something? Altarians, Iconians, and Torians? All good races, and I checked. No alignment changes. I am neutral. Do something about this..)

I now tried to get other races to take over the war against the Iconians for me, so I could concentrate on the Torians, who are currently the No. 1 civ. However, with 1.1 it seems impossible to have another civ start a war for me! What is required now to actually bribe someone to start a war? 9000BC and ALL my technology didn't do a damn thing.

And as I mentioned above, have the AI group received ships into fleets first, and don't have them charge all alone into 3 enemy fleets. Or give me the ability to give the AI entire fleets, and not just single ships as a present.

Cheers!

Try bribing the stronger one into attacking the weaker one. That should work. Even when the stronger one is your enemy, it should work.

Would also like that.

If I'm having trouble bribing someone to enter a war, I grab the money slider and wave it around. Almost always, if you jam it to the top, the AI says 'they're just too powerful, forget it'. Sometimes they won't join a battle for any amount of money, I guess.

I would also agree giving fleets would be better than the AI suiciding.

Also verify what Pnakotus said seems to be the case.

Before 1.1 I could (with great diplomacy) get an AI to declare war on those weaker for like 1-2k.

Now it aseems due to the fact they now "weigh" the rick of having everyone gang up on them, that is it incredibly tough to get the AI (even when their military is 10-20 x's higher than the rest) to declare war.

Kinda aggrivates me. It's possible but you need massive amounts of cash.

Have tested this a few times using the cheat ability because i priginally thought it was turned off.

Wow and if I wasn't half asleep, 99% of my post would have ACTUALLY made sense...

You can also give them high tech ships, then it will be easier to get them to declare war on an enemy of yours because they now have powerful ships.

The Iconians were reduced to their home system. Every other race was more powerful than them.

How much?

Anything regarding my original question?

This is another of those things that doesn't really bother me. If I can't win without having an AI take out my strongest opponents first, it simply means I need to play a better game next time. The point of the game is to get good enough to win on your own, not to just sit back and let the AI win your wars for you then go in and mop up the last remaining opponent for the win.
Having said that, I've noticed that allied civs don't always declare war on my opponent when I'm attacked. As allies, I think they should probably do so--they certainly aren't shy about expecting *me* to do it for *them*.

It's a new thing for 1.1. To see it for your self, give a ship away, but have it in sensor range of another of your ships. Click on the gift ship and read the info box. Under the original ship name it will have the "name brand" of the manufacturer, ie: your civilization name.

Agreed with the ally thing. . . was in a game with one really strong AI opponent, I was second power wise but far behind. So I allied with the No. 3 Power, which combined roughly equalled No.1's power. The power guy declares war on me, I assume my flank is protected by my ally an focus 95% of my ships at a full frontal attack. . . Everything is going great. . . maybe to great. . . I am taking planets left and right with very minor resistance. . . I just assume my ally is causing trouble elsewhere. . . But turns out my ally did not go to war and let an armada march right through there territoy into mine. . . And I got creamed. . .

Ah yeah. Well, look at it this way. At least you didn't build a Maginot Line.

...and think it would work against something besides horse.
