Influence zone does not save.

I noticed that when I reload a game, the zones of influence have shrunk from their previous size, when I saved the game. After a few turns, the zones of influence grow back, but they never seem to be the same as before. I notice a similar thing with my production. Right after reloading, production is very small, as if the bonuses have not been applied yet. This seems to mean that every time I reload, I lose most of a turn worth of production. What's the deal with this? How do you minimize these effects? I haven't loaded the 1.1 patch. Hopefully that will fix it, but it isn't mentioned as a fix.

I've got the same pronblem and no the 1.1 patch wont fix it, but it all seems to go back to normal after 2-4 turns for me, but still annoying as the borders never go back to the orginal pre-save shape.

AFAIK 1.1 changed the way saves are handled; influence data is no longer saved and is simply recalculated when the game is loaded.

The 0 production after save is designed that way, and has been there since 1.0. The theory is that it was put in so people wouldn't use the save system as a cheese tactic; you will have 0 production for that turn (as will all the AIs) and after that it's back to normal.
