Problem with save file?

I got 1.1 yesterday and ran my 1.1 beta 4b game I had been playing. I then ran it earlier today. But now, I try to load my game and it doesn't work! Just to make sure it was a save file problem, I loaded a different game (an auto save of the same game, sadly it's too far away from my current position in the game) and it worked fine. It might just be my older computer not having enough power to load it, but here's my debug.err:

I have the same problem, both my autosave and previous autosave crash when I attempt to load them. It's really frustrating.

I did email my smartexception info last night.

I've got a similar problem... Both were suicidal games that I was going to win easy... One lost me 7 hours of work, while the other lost me about 5 hours... I think I might have an idea as to what the problem is now. It has to do with Rally points. I cannot load any saved games that have rally points with planets going to them.

Yeah, I found out it wasn't that either... Though, those saved games that don't load are on gigantic maps with 9 AIs involved, so there may be too many objects lying around or something.

Maybe, but didn't they say that the games would load faster now? I haven't seen that in any of my games.

Same issue here - but it effects three differant saves, all on the same game, all saves within a few hours of each other.

I have a very fast and powerful machine, and my giagantic galaxy saves take a LONG time to load sometimes. You guys sure you are waiting long enough? I thought mine had frozen up at first -- but if I wait, there it is! You know, that is alot of data to reload.

I have exactly the same problem. I get an out of memory error and then the game crashes when I try to save a game or it is autosaving. The autosave file shows 0KB. I have 2GB of Ram and a 4 GB pg file with latest nVidia drivers and my system is not overheating. When I am loading a saved game it can take up to 10 minutes. Task manager shows the Gav2civ.exe file counting up to 1.9 GB of ram with 100 % usage of the CPU cycles. Running latest beta of Galciv2. This is the only game I have problems trying to run. Like the game but these crashes are frigging ridiculous. Here is most of the debug file:

Yes, same problem here. Saved my game last night and had no problems. Got up this morning - now the saved game crashes and dumps me to desktop every time I try to load it.

OK, well, no big deal I think - I will just load one of the handy Auto Saves...

Nope, no joy there either, seems that both the last two Autosaves are infected with same problem.

So, updated the game just to see what happens - no change, same problem.

Previous save games from two days back load fine. Will also let me start a new game. But would really like to get my saved games back (sort of the whole poitn of the big SAVE button isn't it?) and to be able to trust the game saves in the future. Bug report below - note that report cuts off due to crash I guess.

Would be nice to hear from someone from SD if they have any information or assistance on this.

I'm having the exact same issue. I did a quick save in my game last night before going out - have invested about 8 hours into the game. Came home, went to fire it up, and it crashes when I load the save game. Ok, the 2nd quick save was only about 18 minutes older, so went to load that, and it crashes to. All of the saved games from that one game crash on load now. Very frustrating.

Ummm.. not much. They will most likely say that it is all related to the fact that everyone of us owns crappy computers with old drivers and that it is all our fault.

Probably with a tag about how grateful we should all be that they took the time to notice our little problem.

Sorry guys, we are looking into this problem. Looks like the memory issues are leading into save-file issues. Can you all check out this (https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=115094#888639) thread and see if the suggestions help? If not, we'll have the problems fixed for the next update.

No, her suggestion was to increase the amount of virtual memory on your machine (though defragmenting drives is always nice for a performance boost).

We're working on a better fix as we speak
