Patch 1.1 wont save and ruins my experience.

I used the stardock central program to get the patch 1.1 and installed it. Now it wont save games at all, the game locks up.

Then I spent an hour and half downloading the "bonus" patch from the main page of this website over a 56k modem.

Install it and the exact same thing happens.

I have had the random crash to desktop problem before, and updated my drivers, and use "quit" instead of "retire" and that seemed to avoid the problem.

I had looked forward to this game for ages, waited for it, finally got it after only 1 store in town decided to get it, and how does this end up?

Possibly the buggiest game I've played. Random crash to desktop on occasional systems when people may not have the "most upto date, came out yesterday" drivers, but a patch that means the game can not be saved for a number of people is ridiculous.

I have deleted all my old save games, and ship designs.

Should I delete the game as well, or is there a fix for this coming soon?

what happens? does the save game get stuck up everytime you try to save? If your playing huge or big galaxies, you should wait for the save. Everytime i create a new galaxy, takes me around 2-4mins to save the first time, or load any save game.

It takes me forever to load a game anyway. But I have an old computer.
Something I would try is, from what I can tell for what you did, install the patches in the correct order. I put in 1.0X with the special stuff and the CE stuff first. Then put in the 1.1 patch. It might just be that. When I got GalCiv 1 Altarian Prophesy it was the same kinda thing.

Absolutely no problems here.

Sounds like you may have a corrputed download as this can easily happen on 56K, especially if you have other things going on, on an old PC. Could be other problems too. Somehow, I really doubt the Patches have anything to do with your problem. Without knowing your specific details, I would say, redownload the patch again (fresh) with no interruptons. Also might be a good idea to defrag your PC too, before doing all this.

What size galaxy are you playing on? Larger galaxies will take a longer time to save the first time you save it. Then it will save quicker after that.

I have the same problem occassionaly. It because my older machine heats up pretty quickly. I just pull it out a little and put on my ceiling fan to increase air circulation. It saves fine when the machine has cooled down.

Are you trying to save a new game or an older game? If the game was started during an earlier patch, it won't work well with 1.1 final.
