Neutrality Learning Centers--Add to upgrade hierarchy

With patch 1.1, Neutrality Learning Centers exist (thanks Stardock).. but they don't auto-upgrade (they should "exist" in the upgrade hierarchy above discovery spheres or something)....

That would be really convenient.

Nice patch,

Easy, yes. Convenient, no. By the time I get that far, I have 20+ planets colonized and building things and I have to go to every single one of them and manually upgrade. There are so many things to click that I wear out my wrist.

Having it do that without all the babysitting would be a lot less painful (literally).

There still seems to be a surprising amount of oversights like this remaining post-v1.1

Not an oversight. It works that way because the NLC's are only available to neutral civs.

What's the big deal? I have arthritis and it doesn't bother me a bit to have to click a few times. Sheesh - folks will complain about anything.

And it is that way because it is a totally different branch in the tech tree.

And changing one line might work if you do it at the right place, like upgrading after the Discovery Sphere. Any sooner and there will be a conflict with other upgrade paths. And by that point it is not worth nearly as much. The best way is to manually upgrade at the Acadamy level. That way you get the most increase for the money and time spent.

And not wanting to do it just because you have to cycle through 20 worlds is just plain lazy. You can always take a 5 minute break to rest your wrist. The game won't go on without you, you know.

No, they shouldn't. They are a sepparate, available to neutral civ only, research building. They are available MUCH earlier than discovery spheres and are the most powerful research building in the game. If you really want to go through the research tree (there is a nice galactic achievement at the end of it) before getting the nuetrality learning centers, be my guest.

What can I say? I've been using them for weeks while playing the betas and it never even crossed my mind that they should auto upgrade.

I don't think he means that they should be available to research for non-neutral civs after getting the other research stuff. He means that the governer should auto-upgrade other research buildings to Neutrality learning centres, after you have researched them (as a Neutral Civ). I don't see any problem with that in principle, and frankly anyone who does is just arguing for the sake of it.

Yep. And to those that say: change it yourself. Allready happened, but since I'm playing also some Metaverse games...

got it?

It shouldn't be hard to put it in the game, just have the governors "auto upgrade research buildings to NLCs if they are available", meaning that every criterion for them is met.

I second that NLCs should be on top of the research building upgrade queue. I can't think of a reason why it shouldn't.

I totally agree!

I'm glad to hear that NLCs are in v1.1!

No one one has commented on the neutral AIs! Do they research NLC right after choosing Neutral alignment and then upgrade their labs. Making this an auto-upgrade makes it more likely neutral AIs will take advantage of NLCs which makes for a better AI!

I have played all the beta versions of 1.1 and I have NEVER seen a computer world with a neutral learning center. I do not think they even build these, much less upgrade.

If they didn't, they do now. I have captured several world's with NLC's on them.

If you didn't start a new game after the patch, you won;t see the auto-upgrading NLC's.
