Why Build a Secret Police Center?

It's less than the basic Approval building...

Is there some reason the Secret Police Center only applies a 20% approval bonus? And for that matter ONLY on the planet it is built on?

I could see maybe if it was empire wide, but it's not. I mean it's the same as a starting approval building, but takes a crap load longer to build due to being a super project.

Well I think like The Nutrality Research Centers before 1.1 were Not Included or finsihed, I think the same apllies for some other techs. Some just do not make sense.

Or your a cheater, in which case it doesn't really matter at all

I'm working on a "rebalanced social projects" mod that addresses these and similar concerns.

I agree that the numbers that ship with the default game weren't carefully thought out.

Mod support will allegedly be great in 1.2.

I agree. I dont see any use for it anytime I am able to get this, nor do I see a reason to make a bee-line for this building.

Kinda a cool name though. Wish It was useful some how.

Yeah, this game should also cook my breakfast...

That's a little unfair, don't you think?

I mean, the building is utterly useless. Every morale building does a better job than this building. So unless it affects the morale equation differently from the other morale buildings, it is utterly worthless.

And utterly worthless things are not found in a finely-polished game. Neither are things like the ship selection bug...

BTW, the police center does give a +30 Employment. Of course, employment isn't a valid stat in the game, so it is meaningless. Back when Employment meant something, perhaps it was a good idea. The fact that this is still here longer after its purpose has been removed is important.

Almost as important as all the other problems that have survived six or seven patch iterations. It's not like we've kept them a secret!

I think that it does effect moral more, or differently than a standard morale building. Its ability is defined differently in the Planetimprovements.xml. it lists a morale bonus of 20 as well as the line ! -- F_AbilityFactor 0.20... I'm not 100% clear on what this means but it seems to be used when something is effected outside the planet rather than on it.

Yeah. Starbase morale.

! -- F_AbilityFactor 0.20

You don't read XML.

Anything between !-- and -- (with the brackets, of course) is a comment. It is not considered part of the XML of the document, and therefore is ignored by GC2.
