HELP PLEASE - INVALID REGISTRATION

If you bought it used then chances are the original user already registered it. I don't know if Stardock allows the license to be transferred (Valve, for example, does not allow it, which is why you won't see stores like EB Games and Gamestop selling Half-Life 2 used). You'll have to contact them to see what, if anything, can be done to patch your game.

Sure you typed that long 28 character Number in correctly when It asked?

Yes because the game actually worked when I typed it at install, and I did a copy so...

Download version or Retail CD? If downloaded you might have to resend the Reg to get it to work. I rember when I first downloaded the Game, since I don't have Internet on home PC I had to go home, install it from Stardock Reinstall. Then had to write down a Number and send it to Stardock to get the Real Registration.

If your using the CD version you should not have to do this, at least thats what they said in begging Retail CD reg is good forever. If I have to go thru all that again with a Retail CD Reg I will be pissed.

The game can still work even if you type the serial number improperly at install. But you have to have it right when updating or else you can't get the patches.

So make sure you're typing it properly for the updates, and if so, go back to my advice above.

Oh never mind you bought a Used version, thats a whole different issue. Since Im sure the last owner of that Game registered the copy, which will give you problems. Contact stardock to see what needs to be done. Hope you didn't waste money on a Invalid Game.

Yes, if the original owner registered it, chances are he's still happily playing it. After all, as Brad loves to point out, you never need the CD again once you buy it. Stardock's database remembers your CD Key, so once registered, that person can go nuts and install it anywhere he wants and play it. The key will be tied to the original owner forever.

My game is collector edition, is that can change a thing ?

It doesn't matter that it's Collector's Edition. It's the same game.

Word to the wise - never buy used games that:

1. Use on-line activation (ex: Stardock or Valve games)
2. You plan to play on-line which require a cd key (just about every modern multiplayer game out there)

In case 1 you'll never be able to play the game because it's already been activated by someone else. In case 2 you'll be able to play single player, and you MAY get to play on-line, but if the original owner is already on-line playing, the authentication servers won't let you on.

Same Problem. After updating V1.1 my german Version screen invalid regristartion, man I´m mad. I bougthj it, payed my money and can`t use it no more!

Just drop a note to [email protected].  They should be able to help you.

I JUST FOUND THE SOLUTION

The seller was a really really cool one...since he did not liked the game he changed his accout to my adress and gave me all other information I need if I have problem to log with my username related to this adress.

NOW I PLAY V1.1 AND IT'S REALLY FUN SINCE I HAVE 3 FULLS DAYS OF BREAK... I WILL PLAY NON-STOP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well that was an unexpected good result. Even better that Stardock was willing to help you through it in case that didn't pan out (I can almost guarantee Valve wouldn't have been as helpful).

Valve do not offer any service... I sended them 1 email about problem with hl2 chapter 10, the one they released later, and they still never answered me lol...
