this is making me mad

i cant decomission the starport, and there should be some way to get back into the galactic UN thingy if you leave it, maybe pay tribute or make some kind of sacrifice to rejoin if you left.

There is a way, if you cut off your left pinkey, and mail it to stardock, they'll enable UP rejoining. It's a hard choice, but then, do you really need a pinkey?

You mean the your First Initial one? Yeah I know, but I think thats there in order to prevent someone from demolishing it and the screwing themselevs but not being able to produce ships anymore. But then again a starport is only like 156 BC so it's not like you couldn't afford to just build another one. I mean if you don't ever have the 156 bc to build another one if needed, then you probably dont need or can't use the starport to begin with.

Starports generally take me 1 turn to get back, thats just letting them build. I don't really see the problem in letting them be demolished or even merely upgraded to something else.

Uhh, i thought starport demolishing was allowed. I'm playing 1.1b4. Or i could just be mistaken.

De-commissioning the starports is something we need to get back. The AI is notorious for building them on PQ 3 and 4 planets. I don't want them there. I would rather have something that generates some bc or tp in that spot. Not something that will take 50+ turns to build a scout. I am anxiously awaiting 1.1 to see what happens. Right now in the 4b version, they are permanent no matter what. It is there to stay.

Actually in 1.10 B4 .18 You cannot decomission ANY starports... GRRRR

Also, if you are able to dimolish a builidng, you should be able to rebuild it!! I captured an enemy planet. They had an orbital defence building (is that what's it called? danged brain fart- one of the buildings that allow your ships in orbit to fight as a fleet) built on a 300% tech bonus square! Naturally, I burnt down that sucker and built a science station. Then when I went to rebuild the orbital defence building I did not have the option to rebuild it.

Programming should recognize if there is a one-per-planet-building on the planet, instead of the current programming which seems to only remember if a one-per-planet-building has been built and then prevents further buildings of that type from being built ever again.

I haven't downloaded the current beta (but I did upgrade to the last alpha released 1.0?), so perhaps this has already been addressed . . . ?

Yeah, I really don't get it why they made those starports undecommissionable (is that even a word? )

It's really annoying me seeing those starports cluttering up my newly acquired >PQ5 planets.

I want to build research stuff there, not starships on a hundert planets.

the starport thing is intentional in the beta, so they can monitor AI building them. Sure it will be fixed before the 1.1 release. They have an indestructible tag which you can remove by modding if you wish.

Yeah, I could go in and mod it myself but I'll let the devs take care of it. I'm too lazy. I hear 1.1 will be out this week anyway. (How many betas have we gone through? I lost count. Heheh)
