Economic Victory?

I wonder if it makes an interesting gameplay addition to have an economic victory as well?

here's several ideas for what constitutes an "economic victory":

1) a simple straightforward "Amass xx gazillion of bc's in treasury", like tech victory. it is not as straightforward though, because treasury will fluctuate, whereas technological progress is always upgoing, or static at worst.

2) "establish trade routes with every major civs"? might make a shorter gamespan though... and seems more straightforward than #1 in execution.

3) "reach an income rate of xx gazillion bc's per turn" kinda more convoluted variation of #1 perhaps, so less fun maybe?

4) bankrupt every other civs, muhuhahahaa... how? use your creativity

5) become the galaxy's ultimate speculator/banker... lets say, we have the beyond stock market improvement , a galactic investment/loan ctr or sth, which grants us the ability to loan funds to other civs... like, WE become the mitrosoft, united builders etc for them. the goal is then probably to control xx percentage of the market share or sth.

Way too easy. I can summon an income of well over 200,000 bc a year, without an economic boom. If you want to do the money route, do my personal favourite victory, a proxy military. Be an arms dealer and broker, make everyone close (but never an ally) and create chaos. What fun!

Oh, and brutally slaughter the last civ standing

You could have Government Created Corporations

Or Corporation Created Governments. Diebold anyone? Halliburton?

Do you mean income, or net profit? I hope you mean income, because net profit could be manipulated by just lowering the level of spending.

Alsothe total amount would have to be determined by the total PQ of the universe, so a universe with less PQ would require less income.

Or perhaps it would need to exceed that of the other civilizations by a certain percentage. By "it" I mean either your total BC total or your income.

An influence victory works out to be an economic victory anyway, because you end up with so many planets you can't help but make a bundle.

Perhaps some kind of 'people who get too much of their income from trade with you' victory condition? You'd need some additional trade techs, but if you could put a civ in a situation where they're boned without your trade, you could finangle some kind of victory condition there. It'd make people more hesitant about accepting trade routes, and enable small civs (like minors) to be totally controlled by an advanced, successful trader.
