I saw the idea for a ship pack and I think it is a great idea.

I think this is a great game, and I love the customisation feature. However one area that could be improved in a ship pack is that ship hulls and jewellery look very samey.

I would like to see a variety. Hulls and jewellery with an organic or crystalline theme, for example.

The difficulty is that all the functional equipment that you stick on ships is metallically themed. I would like to see a possibility for alternative appearances, especially in a paid for expansion like a ship pack.

For example, if I developed a technology (like Laser I, for example), when I came to drag it on to a ship I would like to be able to choose from more than one appearance, for example metallic, crystalline, organic. For all its many, many flaws, MOO3 had a wide variety of appearances in different race's ships. For example the geodic's had crystalline ships, other races had snail-like organic ships etc.

I already love the custom metallic fleet I've been slowly assembling, but if they actually added new styles like crystal and organic hulls I'd seriously have to reassess my fleet's image. If done well both of those choices would appear very alien and extremely cool.

In general as long as the ship pack halfway decent I'll buy it. Actually, I'd probably buy as many ship packs as they released. The ship builder is part of what makes this game I think. To me there's nothing cooler than seeing my phoenix-shaped capitol ships towering above the fray and spraying disruptor beams from their talons. Judging from the many screen shots posted around here a lot of other players have similarly unique fleets to be proud of.

After all, you aren't *really* victoriouis in battle unless you win in style . . .

I like the idea of variety, but I'm not a fan of biowank in science fiction. But hey, you're suggesting appearance and jewelry, not techs, so I can't be offended.

I'd actually really, really like different models for weapons et al. Particularly since I almost always prefer the 'basic' mark 1 beam model to the later ones. The interface for this would also allow us to add in FS-style turrets, ST-style strips, B5-style folding claws, that sort of thing.

However, if they made appearance too flexible, I'd like the 'stats' popup for enemy ships to be able to highlight components by what they do, so you can easily see what their beams/ECM etc look like.

Treeships would be awesome, as would crystalline ships. I'd finally be able to give the custom races I create based on other sci-fi their proper ship types.

To be honest, I'm not that big of a fan of the boxy stuff we have going on right now; particularly what the Terran's get. Everything looks somewhat... pudgy. There are items that are obviously wings, but there is no way they could actually serve as aerodynamic surfaces. I don't know, stuff just looks like boxes and triangles mashed together at times.

I would love a jewelry pack with cleaner lines and slightly more organic shapes. Organic as in rounder and curvier, not "dreadlord ship" bio.

Personally, I like boxes. More variety of boxes please!!!

If a terran designs a ship to be beautiful, he must have thought beauty was a necessary function


But anyway, the feature I'd like to see in future is an option to make ships less.... static. Primary source: B5's Omega-class destroyer. Admit it, rotating sections are cool But even something as simple as flashing lights would add a lot imho. My biggest dissapointment in the retail version was that the light objects didn't flash.

I demand flashing lights!!!
