ship movement - inflexible?

I'm one of those players who takes 1-3 planets and fills them with manufacturing so those few planets churn out constructors or warships or transports quickly and as required. My problem is that I cannot easily automate the re-location of these ships. For example, when building a SB I prefer to have 6-7 constructors arrive more or less at the same time so as to have a fully defensible SB up and running quickly. As far as I can tell, for each constructor built on each planet I have to launch and then send it to a set rally point. It would be much easier to have a function whereby one could dictate that all ships produced on X Planet, until further notice, be launched and deployed to Y Coordinates. All ships produced by another planet (say Planet X2) could be routed to Z Coordinates, etc.

Maybe I'm overlooking something but having to manually launch hundreds of ships is a bit much. I rarely keep many ships planet-bound, so having an automatic 'launch and deploy' ability would be nice.

Maybe experiment with the "colony rally point" system? I don't yet have it all figured out, but I think that system will let you do just what you're wanting.

Each planet has a little Rally Point button. Click on the planet from the main map, and you'll see a little blue symbol with an arrow. Click on that and select the rally point you want. Every ship built at that colony will go to that rally point until you change it.

Yeah, I finally figured that out in my last game. Set rally points on the map, then set each colony individually (or all of them at once with the governers). Made it really helpful when I was fighting a war and could have my ships automagicaly create/join a fleet as they arrived at the rally point.

Just be sure you have a rally point or two set before you try to select it at the planet level. Instead of working where you'd pick the planet and then set its rally point you set the rally points and then order each planet to a specific one--took me a few minutes to figure that out.

Or you can have the rally point ON your starbase, any colonizers sent that way will just prompt you to build once they get there.
