This game sucks!

It does!! It's too addictive!!!!!!! :P I was playing a match up yesterday as the Yor on Challenging, and was doing rather well. The Terrans were a huge threat, but after a big war I managed to subdue them. I was about to save and quit as it was almost 11, when suddenly the Terrans attacked me with a much superior fleet(I was using missiles, had the anti-missile stuff). I lost half of the planets I had gained from my previous war, and had to give up another one to call peace. I then went and started designing my own ships... got pulled into another war with 2 other races... suddenly I realize its past midnight... Blast you Galactic Civilizations 2 :P Hahahah ~prime

You think that's bad? I was up to 4 one night, seeing what would come of this proxy war me and the Drath were fighting (They paid someone to fight me, I sued for peace with the race, and set one of my buddies on them)

Thank god it was the weekend, I would have got into serious trouble. Now, I have to cut the power at 11

Oh, a part-timer then! I don't think I've managed to get to bed before 3am since the day the game was released.

I mainly get to play after the wife has gone to bed. My body has started shutting down while at the keyboard. I'll wake up 2-3 hours later and continue the turn. It's gotten to be such a regular event that the dog will come and check on me around 3am.

Needless to say, now that I've finally finished a gigantic map game on the current beta, it'll be a few days before I'm allowed to start a new one. This is ok because I've been waiting for the sequel to "Pandora's Star" to come out ("Judas Unchained") and I was able to buy it yesterday. So, since I can read the book in the living room I'll be able to "ignore" her with my nose in a book instead of in the den with my headphones on!

Option 1: Evil stares boring into the back of my head from my gf while I play GalC2 on my 32in Bravia widescreen....
Option 2: Stop the manipulation of the Terrans, Korx, and Iconians to crush the Torians for me to goto bed and cue and cuddle with the gf of 2 years.

What does the hopelessly addicted tyrant do.... love the gf or love the game?

He grits his teeth, hunkers into the chair further and sips on the rum and coke and picks OPTION 1. Eventually destroying the Torians without destroying or loosing a single ship and winning the gigantic map on the next to hardest setting.

Personal sacrifices include: loss of sleep, hangover from drinking the sorrow of directing the destruction of so many away , no 'special time' with the gf for a few days, a sore bum and muscles from sitting in my throne and holding my sceptor for so long, and an exhausted mind from out strategizing every other civilization.

Personal gain: Control over the entire known civilized worlds, every whim satisfied by billions of slaves, one big satisfied grin that won't leave until the next conquest starts.

I'm certain that both GC1 and GC2 have the ability to detect when the player is thinking that it's time to go to bed, and responds with a declaration of war, just to keep things interesting

I'm pretty sure the Mind Control Center is not just an in game planet improvement. The devs found a way to incorporate its function into each computer GalCiv is installed on. Much like a virus, but much more subtle. This thing that they do is modify the EM emmisions, effecting our brainwave patterns. That is why we find it so difficult to walk away from the game, or even use the computer for any other purpose.

i mean even when you want to stop playin... you get a message

"one more turn wont hurt"

Brainwashing at its best....

Oh come on... you think *you're* a loser? Dude, I have stayed up until 7AM one time, and 10AM another time playing this game. Hell, it's 3:30 right now, and I am posting on the forums before I hit the sack for the night. Well, actually to read some more of the Vampire: Requiem manual before I knock out.

I have pulled the first all-nighter in a while because of this game! At least the turns are taken care of in a few minutes. My last addiction (Rome Total War) had turns that would take hours and if you let the AI take over you would lose your A#$. How many people here have pulled all-nighters because of that "one more turn won't hurt" crack??

Haha, I get to bed at least by 4am each morning. ...that's early though. I did manage to complete the entire campaign in one setting and start up a new game. Woke up one morning and played through to the next day. It does help to not have a day job other than playing music and video games.

played a game 2 weeks ago ... gigantic with 8 opponents on bright difficulty.... non stop "just one more turn" for 14hrs straight (except for number1s and quick 5 minute meals or snacks)... conquered 6 out of 8 races.... started at 1pm and the only reason I guess I stopped close to 3am is cause the game CRASHED when I was on my way to conquering the 7th race ... 0_o... lost some of the latest quick and auto saves.. only one I found was when i just finished up conquering 5 out of 8.... basically gave up with that run... was a little disappointed but didn't get mad cause its a known issue that the game crashes on you... havent done a marathon like that since then... hopefully after the 1.1 upgrade the game becomes more stable .... hopefully 0_o
