Random race personalities

One feature I'd love to see in the future is something that was a favourite of mine from Space Empires III: random race personalities and styles. While currently the Dregin are always aggressive, etc. in Space Empires III each alien race would have a random ship style, logo, tech preferences and personality. It meant that each game was different in a way Galactici Civilisations II doesn't quite match.

When I run into the Dregin I know how they're going to act based simply off previous games.

I'd like to see more of a mis-match style. Random logos and ship styles coupled with a random choice of AI personality (and the appropriate dialogue). Like the AI, you'd then no longer be in the position of knowing how they're going to react until you've spoken somewhat.

That would be cool but dont forget that the devs are trying to personalize all the races AI. I didnt played space empires but im pretty sure that gc2 AI is much better. I think for Ai randomisation the would have to script the ai and this is not a good thing ...

I dunno about whats needed to switch personality but randomizing their alignment doesn't sound too hard.
I would think there's already code for how to behave on each alignment, just who calls what would be different..

I think Butcherski is right though the individual AI also have their own agendas and way of doing things.
Maybe if you swapped them around a la "Musical Chairs/AI " where you don't know which AI is really driving what race.

Each race has its own AI, so it might not be possible. But what they could do I think is randomly assign the AI's to races.

Oh yes, the GalCiv2 AI is supposed to be much better than Space Empires (which is more multiplayer orientated), but the SE series is so much more customisable, and one of my favourite parts was exploring the galaxy and trying to figure out what type of opponents I was facign (AI wise), where as in GalCiv2 the Dregin act like the Dregin every time.

in GalCiv2 the Dregin act like the Dregin every time.

That's kind of the point. Do you also expect the Russians to act like the Chinese sometimes?

No, but the game has a much smaller finite number of possiblities, and since i don't need a lifetime to understand the Dregin, I'd like to see the chance to have random race personalities so that I don't know instantly what everyone is going to bee like.
