This day and age you think with are new game for PC it would have some kind of power behind it ?

When you think of what games came out befor this one THIS year alone you would UPGRADE your PC by now?

So what were the poeple at stardock thinking please tell me cus i am lost

Is this game still in beta or is it that you ran out of cash???

Has anyone ever played are game called Home world 1 & 2 Now that is space game

Home world 1 Has more behind it in grapics then what this game does it was out back in 1997

If you are thinking about buying this game then DONT!!! They havent even taken the time to make game that has haft the power of games back in the 90's FFS.

The poeple at stardock should be taken out the back and shot just to be nice!!!

From past experience on these forums, if your game crashes alot, there is a 99% chance of you having 2-year old or older video drivers. Then there is a 1%-chance that you just are very unlucky and this game won't work for you.

But we'll never know for sure....because, instead of taking a calm level headed approach to the problem, he turned into a child.

I'm glad they didn't make it all flashy just to score extra points with the graphics-tards. It's got a nice little style.

So .. what your saying is, you pirated the game, and it dosent live up to your expectations. You'll have to excuse us if we aren't all that concerned. Buy the game, then people might want to help you. You could post your debug.err and people will point out obvious mistakes on your part, like running ancient driver versions. Or, at need, FrogBoy himself, or one of the other developers, would interpret your debug.err and perhaps a smart exception report, and either tell you how to fix your PC, or if it turns out to be a bug in GC2 they would fix it in the next patch.

But for a pirate? Not a hope.

I never knew the English language could be mauled that badly until now

Truly horrible. I had a headache after reading it. Apart from the obvious struggle with the language ( no problem with that, I hope at least you also are no native), structure and correct manners, he missed out to put some sense in his post. No description under what circumstances his game crashes, no posting of his debug.err.

The poeple at stardock should be taken out the back and shot just to be nice!!!

So here's some advice for you, before you get shot for insulting the english language and posting such a useless ranting gibberish:

Sell the game and buy / read some good books instead - you really seem to need it

two different types of games..

ones real time, ones turn based.

i loves hw 1+2

but wasnt epic enough for my tastes, and the ai wasnt up to scratch

unlike here where it can kill me if i let my guard drop...

Its just occured to me that the OP may have been talking about the demo, rather than a warez copy, in which case I apologise for calling him a pirate.

Oh come now. I LIKE GCII, but you've got to admit that the graphics are more than a bit lame for 2006. Don't you?
I guess Im just a "graphicstard" HA!

Would you rather the game had brilliant graphics but crappy AI with multiplayer filled with idiots? This is Stardock, not some EA studio.

umm this is the best tbs games out (imo)..even with the bugs.......and the support on here from everyone and the devs is 2nd to none....but if thats not good enuf well take ur crappy attitude and terrible english and go crawl back under ur rock from 1997.....u wont be missed!

I like this game. It is good.

Has some problems on really big map sizes. I report them as and when they occur.

The developer support is good. Would like to see some more organic ship components (hulls, jewels, equipment) though.

I never get tired of posts like this. Especially the ones with obviously untrue claims, like 'HW1 is better graphics-wise'. I own HW1, and the graphics are NOT better. They're low-poly, poorly textured, 90s graphics.

I've played more than a few sci-fi TBS games, and GC2 has good graphics as they go. Certainly better than IG2, MoO3, and the like.

And the bugs... well, I've never had any problems. 1.0 crashed sometimes after six or seven hours of play, and beta1 gives me no grief.

Um bad graphics? wtf are you talking about?

The Graphics on this game are great i love them, but i love the gameplay even better and in the end that is what makes a great game

This day and age you think with are new game for PC it would have some kind of power behind it ?

Now that's just a plain ignorant remark, because this game stresses the video card so much that if you've overclocked your card, it will probably overheat, leading to the crashes that you've mentioned in your original post. The patch and the betas address this by adding an option to throttle back the video card so it won't get so stressed out. I experienced crashes all the time that disappeared when I used this option. Also, if you play on the largest map, the game will eat up ALL your available memory. Also, this game was made to take advantage of multiple core technology. So it pushes the envelope, yet it is entirely playable if you have an older system. Not many games can boast THAT...

The poeple at stardock should be taken out the back and shot just to be nice!!!

Why? You think that since you've just shot yourself in the foot that someone else must experience the same pain?

Bill

Brilliant post laced with a touch of mild retardation and a side of stupidity.

Using your logic, we should all be driving Ferrari's and 760iL BMW's..... instead of either a Corvette Z06 or a GS 430 Lexus....

Personally, I like a game that doesn't rely on graphics. I hate upgrading my machine, due to the fact that I cannot create money from nothing, and my plans to rob city banks always seem to fall through at the last minute. I enjoy a game with GAMEPLAY. If you want graphics, go search art sites and stop playing games, in my opinion. Sure, a graphical representation of what is going on is nice, but personally, I don't want to have to upgrade my video card just so I can see explosions so glorious and detailed that I can zoom in and see every single atom speeding away from what was once a ship at incredible speeds. Nah, spend the time, money and development on an AI that can surprise you, and can plot against you behind your back, all the while making you think you've got a grip on the game. That's what I want in a game.
But thats just me. And I could be wrong.

Well the latest beta does crash fairly often on my computer too. A bit too often.

I guess I'm out of touch. What exactly is bad about the graphics?

What exactly could we do, in a space game, to make the graphics better than they are?

Also, I am glad I'm not the only one who sees the irony of someone who pirated the game complaining about bugs.  Odds are, it's something about the pirated version. Who knows what files did or didn't get included.

I am big fan of graphics in PC games especially sci-fi but I dont see a problem with the graphics here. I certainly consider the ship builder graphics to be plenty good enough. Yes alot of the other graphics are lacking somewhat but I dont really care once I am playing the game. I think the graphics range from "functional" to "great" in various parts of the game.

I understand the trade-off that has been made and I think the results are more than worth it. But then I am not a complete gfx-whore that some people can be. I would prefer them tweaking AI rather than pixels because I know the difference it can make to the game in the end.

Comparing the graphics between different genres is boardering on the ridiculous Regit. Compare GalCiv2 to Dawn of War graphics? Any surprise at the winner? What about Doom3 or Half-Life2? Still surprised?

Compare Doom3 to Half-Life2 and you'll have yourself a conversation. Just not on this forum.

Its all good Frogboy! The graphics really are up to snuff, I think most people are just zoomed way out and are only looking at the icons, not the actual ship models.

Once your all zoomed in, and playin with the angles on a custom made ship with more bling than snoop... then the grahics of the game really shine through.
